Trumble 10/05/24 9:39:13 PM #1:	Please do not spoil anything Im not up to yet. Spoiling alternate outcomes of events Im already past is fine, as long as you dont spoil future events in the process. This includes how to beat things / solve puzzles / where to go next. Was gifted it a while back on CE. Intended to play the first two first, but tried 1 and it just felt so clunky that I didnt even finish the tutorial. Decided to give 3 a go since its much more modern, and yeah, its a lot more bearable. So Ive escaped the Mindflayer ship and been walking around this remote area now. Saved Shadowheart, she seems cool. Also met and recruited Astarion, I dont like him. Met some dude Gale who was stuck in a portal thing, killed him, and he asked me to revive him. Combat feels like it has a lot of potential to be really awesome. The "rotate camera" keyboard settings by default feel backwards to me (Q / E). I swapped them around. For mouse, I feel like rotate should be on RMB, not MMB. This looks like it can be configured but whether it's gonna conflict with context menu also being on RMB... eh, guess I can just try it and see what happens. Camera angles feel awkward. You can't zoom out far enough for a nice feeling overhead view; but going for a third-person type feels awkward too with the camera rotation remaining static. --- And they say that a Trumble will save us... <cite>Trumble posted [p:982413277] in Started pl... Yet you can't (unless I missed something?) make your character taller or chubbier etc outside of the four preset body types. On my playthroughs RP takes a fat backseat to mechanical depth and experimentation. Found some really unique interactions of my own accord. Looking up builds on youtube is lame as fuck imo. I did the same exact thing. Much better. Right click has a few other functions, namely it can be used to cancel an action. Like, for example, you cast a spell but don't realize it'll move your character, you can hit M2 to stop it before it happens. I don't usually have that issue but I normally play in isometric so I can see the entire battlefield. Seems I cant go further in that direction so went another path. Kept getting my ass kicked by the guys who fight you after the cutscene with the dragon (I havent remembered the names yet). Then I realised I needed to level up; it keeps throwing me off that it has to be done manually. Failed to rescue the first dude I came across in the buildings, but managed to rescue the mayor(?) who rewarded me with another quest. No shortage of stuff to do here. Enemies are missing me heaps too. So, I found out why everyone was making a big deal about me killing Gale. Thats an interesting mechanic, but seriously fuck the devs for making the connection so obscure. I legit thought my game was glitching, nothing remotely suggested it was even meant to be happening let alone that it was related to him. Not only that but while trying to figure out what the hell was happening, I came across that this can even happen if the guy just dies in combat and you don't specifically revive him. o_O That would seem even harder to figure out (although maybe also if you actually use him, he has dialog that gives it away)? Also, is this game by a British studio? I'm noticing a very very high frequency of British accents in the game. Including that sus-ass cow from earlier. On my playthroughs RP takes a fat backseat to mechanical depth and experimentation. Found some really unique interactions of my own accord. Looking up builds on youtube is lame as fuck imo. Yeah, I'm not looking up anything either. Like maybe if I outright don't understand how a mechanic works and want to know, I might Google that, but I'm playing blind. The only thing I've looked up so far was the game overs due to Gale dying, because I genuinely thought they were a glitch. Cemith posted... Right click has a few other functions, namely it can be used to cancel an action. Like, for example, you cast a spell but don't realize it'll move your character, you can hit M2 to stop it before it happens. Yeah, I tried out putting rotate on RMB anyway (without removing the other options) and it kinda worked, but it'd mean that if I rotated by a very slight amount and my mouse was over a character, the context menu would also pop up, which was very annoying. Speaking of which, I figured out what the other thing that was bugging me with the camera angles is - the fact that you can't tilt the camera up and down in any way. There are some places where the angles make it really awkward to see where you're going / what's ahead. pegusus123456 posted... I passed the check, all it did was confirm something is up with the cow. I suspect I could've taken things further if I had the talk to animals spell.. which... I do have now... Kept going and found a goblin town, rescued the entertainer guy (yeah, I'm really bad with remembering characters' names, like, I'll recognize the name if I see it but can't actually think of it) by convincing his "owner" that I was just taking him for a walk. Also encountered a goblin who claimed they'd cure me, but then just tried to kill me instead, in what was initially a 1-on-1 fight but then basically every goblin in the building got dragged into it, but there was still a locked door seperating my main character from the others, so kinda became two parallel fights for a while (until the rest of my party got overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of the goblins, and then they broke the door down and joined the 1-on-1). Didn't win that, reloaded, explored other places and found a very angry bear and kicked its ass, it turned into the guy I was looking for but for some reason I couldn't just side with him now and try to kick the goblins' asses and just had to kill him? And I like how stopping the audio when the game isn't focused is specifically an option. So yeah, I can actually write while I play (which also means I can generally put actual names rather than "the so-and-so guy"). I'm in the Blighted Village right now. My next lead is "Auntie Ethel", but I've also got a "quest" to meet up with Volo back at camp, so let's do that. He seems to know a bit about mind flayers but doesn't believe I'm actually infected. He's now verifying that... and is saying he can probably find a cure. Five whatever-the-currency-is-called says he can't, but eh, he's harmless (and far less annoying than Gale or Astarion) so sure, he can stick around. Also he gave me an armor that... is a downgrade from my character's current one, but is a slight upgrade for Astarion, so he can have it. There's also this creepy skeleton guy Withers who's shown up. I said to him that "Skeletons shouldn't be able to talk" and he literally just goes "correct". That was amusing. Now THIS guy I'd like to put in my party, but doesn't look like that's an option. But ooh, he can revive fallen characters, change / add classes and give me hired helpers? Okay, cool, this guy's gonna be useful to have around even if he's a bit weird. Also do the long rest more often than you would otherwise, a lot of story beats and character interactions come up while camping and you get far more than enough resources. Especially if you get in the habit of sending food directly to the camp, it works both from the inventory and the camp chest.
