Tesla's much-hyped robotaxi is finally here. The automaker unveiled the Cybercab at a splashy event in Los Angeles on Thursday.
At the start of the We, Robot event, Musk hopped into a shiny, futuristic-looking vehicle with butterfly doors that then whisked him to the stage. The Cybercab has sleek light bars in front and rear, along with deep-dish rims.

inside, the vehicle has two seats and no steering wheel or pedals. Tesla showed off a minimalist interior similar to that of the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y, complete with a large centrally mounted touchscreen. Musk said Tesla expects to start producing the Cybercab "before 2027" and that it will be available for purchase for less than $30,000.

A good reminder that Musk has zero formal education in computer science even though he touts himself as an expert. He made websites for two of his companies, you already know he bought his way into Tesla, and PayPal was the creation of a company that merged with his so that also wasn't him

There's no way. I have a tesla and the FSD is impressive but you quickly learn where it's unreliable. Each iteration of the software is 1 step forward and another step back in some other way.

People mock it but it can drive 95% of a 500 mile trip. Still that 5% left that it doesn't do right is dangerous.

Humans can't account for the unbelievable stupidity of human drivers. That's why so many thousands die or are seriously injured on the roads.

If we ever get to the point where self-driving cars substantially reduce casualties, then they become acceptable. We don't have to wait for perfection.

I actually kind of like the look of it, and alright the color gold is finally back! That being said, no way in hell am I riding in a car with no steering wheel, and I would not buy a Tesla.

This may be a stupid question (although to be fair it's an incredibly stupid product made by an incredibly stupid man, so...), but...

...why the fuck is the interior designed to be like a car when there is literally no outlet for any driving whatsoever to take place? There's no interaction from the victims inside with regards to operating the suicide booth other than playing on an iPad, so why is it a couple of cramped seats awkwardly placed next to each other facing an irrelevant windscreen with a crappy plastic armrest in between them? That feels like the most socially awkward way two people with nothing to do but pass the time to sit on a potentially long journey, when they could make the interior bigger and have seats down either side like a subway so people can sit face to face to talk while Dumblebee takes them to their inevitable doom, or they could give room for people to lie down and nap. Hell, they could make it RV-sized and put a small living room set up in there with a seat, a couch, and a small TV, along with kitchen facilities.

There is literally not a single reason to choose that interior layout other than a weird adherence to what the inside of a car should look like.

Let people crash and burn in comfort, Elon, you ballsack-faced prick!

We'll probably see this in our lifetime, but this ain't it. We're not there yet
