I don't really have anybody. Even my therapist lets me down because she rarely shows up to appointments and often doesn't do what she says she's going to do.

Outside wishing my health was better I'm in a very good position in life financially and quite happy with the way things are going. If I was healthy I'd be doing cartwheels of joy with everything lined up perfectly.

That depends on whether you consider time (and thus, the future) as being a thing that actually exists in any meaningful sense.

If time is nothing more than an illusion created by our limited perception of objects' movement through space, then nobody has a future, just a series of "presents" until the universe completely ceases to exist, with us insignificant, fleshy things just along for an infinitesimally-tiny fraction of the ride.

If time does objectively, cosmologically exist, though, then even if the future is going to suck harder than anything has ever sucked before, we'll still have a future.

my last bad one was april. i had all the bad things stacked against me. rent was due and my uncle's boss didn't sign my uncle's last check to me so i could cover his half of the rent. lost about 1.4k dollars that month

they did give me an option if things ever fell through because i had a disability until i could get section 8 housing (prepared to use it since i have nobody else to help me anymore).

Every day you wake up is a future. The fact is, everybody has a future. Will it be good or bad? Who knows.

But writing off the future entirely is no way to live. As a previous poster said, please seek a better therapist who will be there for you.

The world doesnt automatically want anybody. People who are wanted have that status because of what they do with their lives.

I'm trans, and the trans community is one of the most highly discriminated groups in existence. Society actively goes out of its way to make the lives of people like me harder.

The fact that I was born into a poor family and suffered a lot of abuse and trauma from basically the start of my life pushes it into even rougher territory. I never had a good foundation, and it's highly unlikely my life will ever get any better.

I mean, I'll continue to exist for a while. Idk if that counts as a future or not. I've got nothing meaningful to look forward to.

Im not denying that those are some pretty big challenges. Nor am I trying to downplay any discrimination you might face.

All Im saying is that writing yourself off because youre not wanted is absurd. I wasnt wanted either, but I made it work and now my life is positive. It took a long time and wasnt a pleasant process, but my point is, as bad as things might be now, accepting them because thats just the way they are isnt the path to a better future.

Hope you're doing okay (considering). Gamefaqs isn't much, but the small sense of community has kept me going when I've been down and out. It's synergistic, hope you know you're keeping other people going too.

My biggest issue is career-related. Im a late bloomer I guess, but Im in my late 30s, my dumb ass cant think of what kind of job to go for that will meet my schedule, salary, and commute needs. I dont really have time to spend years and years learning something to get a low-paying job. I dont have time to spend years and years working my way up from the bottom.

The whole job thing is like a huge blockage. I barely have a social life or have time to date, I cant afford vacations, I cant afford a house. I feel like if I could just get to the point where Im making decent money without having to live to work, everything will fall into place.

But that seems unlikely to happen, soooo

As somebody who has changed career several times, it doesnt have to be as big a deal as it seems. It normally does mean a pay cut, but you tend to get accelerated progression if youre older and have experience in other fields.

I wish I had more opportunities. I grew up in an area where there werent really a lot of jobs (at least none that made leaving my shitty grocery store job worth it) so I dont have much diverse experience.

Looking on Indeed is grim too.

And I cant really afford a pay cut or to be out of work since Im on my own and have bills / rent to pay.
