I agree that Zelda 2 is one of the more difficult Zelda games, but I don't remember Donkey Kong Country being more difficult than the average game. I mainly played the GBC version though, not sure if that affected the difficult. This is not me trying to be difficult, I just remember playing it when I was a teenager and I'm pretty sure I beat it back then, so I'm not sure if this is my memory being bad or what. Haven't played Super Castlevania IV though, so can't comment on that one.

They are if you actually play them. It's not the hard games' fault if you aren't playing them.

I dont know about insufferable. Anyone who can beat Souls games with the ease that they are trivial is a cool dude in my book.

Depends on what you like, but the Rage/Streamer games like Getting Over It or Only Up are the obvious ones to point to as being vastly harder than any older console game (that didn't have a bug as the reason for it being hard) being referenced.

GBC version. From my understanding, the GBA version was more accurate to the original, albeit with some kind of extras, while the GBC version did have to make some changes because of the weaker hardware, I'm just not sure if those changes affected the difficulty in any major ways.

Either way though, I'll see what I think when I do get around to playing through the original SNES version, as I do intend to do that at some point.
