Doctor was like lol lmao it'll either stay like that, go away, or get infected.

It is now quite obviously red, inflamed and it's agony when I walk.

Very much looking forward to calling in to work next week with this as a reason.

Ok, so after an agonising weekend, I have an appointment to see a GP in 20 minutes.

The thing decided to burst about 5 mins ago.

I mean, upside is less pain. Downside is yuck.

So where is this cyst? Your balls? And be happy that it burst and is now draining. Probably saved the doctor the trouble of scheduling an appointment to have it lanced. Make sure you wash the area frequently so the pus doesn't spread infection. If possibly try to use bandages or something. Maybe bum a maxi pad off of someone.

...I'm quite healthy and fit, but out of fucking nowhere I had this exact thing happen to me. I've never had anything like this in my life, mind you, so I was freaked out mentally as well due to the location. It burst while I was asleep (waking me), crime scene of a mess instantly, but the relief was immediate. Two weeks later, had healed like nothing ever happened.

I relate to your pain. I was put out of everything beyond slow shuffle walking for like 4 days.

Oh yeah, Im extremely happy. Its already much less painful.

Dr said that I could see a nurse to get it drained, or drain it myself.

Just make sure to wash up afterwards, but no more than the doctor recommends. Do NOT use hydrogen peroxide (you're not supposed to use that for broken skin, anymore) Also do not use rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer. You might want to call your care advice nurse on the best approach to cleaning unless the doctor gave you such instructions. Too mild a soap might mean insufficient cleaning, while too strong a soap is very bad as it could cause dryness, further tissue damage, and scaling which could interfere with drainage (plus the skin flakes are a breeding ground for bacteria)

Pilonidal cysts hurt like hell. Should just be able to get it lanced though.
