I spend about 30 cents:

I actually own a couple sets of really nice pens (the old-school fancy pen sets), but they were gifts. Which I got like 30 years ago. Which I have never used once.

I've spent $50 on a nice pen, but my definition is a bit odd, it's a heavy chonky thing, and I love it.

Depends on the pen really. Like if the pen is SUPER nice like some overengineered masterpiece I'll drop like 200$+ on it.

I won't spend that kind of money if it just uses some precious metal though. It needs to be built for function.

I used to have a pen that had a radio in it. You basically plugged your earbud earphones in the back of the pen and it could seek for local channels.

What if it's made out of Kryptonite, and you can use it to repel Superman?

Also, it probably gives you cancer if you use it too much.

But honestly I'm not sure. I have crippled hands so if I found one that made writing much easier for me, I might spend a bit more than I'd initially expect myself to for that.

I have some pens from a cheap set around if something needs signed, but I otherwise don't use any. Largely digital now.

I like zebra pens and they aren't expensive. A 4pk is less than $15.

<$5. If I need to buy pens, I'd just buy a pack of cheap ones. I prefer mechanical pencils though.

I think the most expensive pen I've bought was a $25 Fisher Space Pen. It can write on wet surfaces and upside down.

But I've since discovered the Uni-ball Power Tank, which has a similar pressurized cartridge, but they cost as little as $1.41 each. Enough to annoy me a little bit if I lose one, but not ruin my day like losing a $25 Space Pen.

Probably no more than 100 dollars. But it would have to be a super cool design that I was particularly interested in, very high quality and be able to last a long time and/or have replaceable ink cartridges or whatever pens take. I don't know, I'm not a pen connoisseur.

Aside from this, no more than 20 dollars for a standard pen of good quality. I've learned what you get from going cheap, with anything really.

I use sharpie gel to pens. Think it's like 5 and some change for a 4 pack.

Only thing I care about is how they feel when I write and they feel real nice.

I'd love to have a fountain pen, but between ink refills and the 70+ price they often go for is not something thats worth it.

I used to write with a dip pen. I still have a bunch of them, but I think all my ink has dried up.

They're similar to a fountain pen, but have no reservoir. You dip the pen into an inkwell and write until the ink runs out, then you dip it again.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/6/6601b129.jpg

The main advantages of a dip pen over fountain pens are that you can easily switch between different nibs and inks, and you can use inks that are incompatible with fountain pens, such as India ink (which is made with lampblack, which would clog a fountain pen) or iron gall ink (which will corrode fountain pen nibs).
