And Southern gothic or gothic country or just "alt country". There is a lot of good country and bluegrass music still being made, one just has to look for it.

I'm quite loving this dude so far. Definitely going to add some of his songs to my rotation. I'm very behind when it comes to modern non-radio-pop country.

I guess showed his whole ass is an exaggeration

it's just striking for the comparison between Tyler and Zach, that Zach started out occasionally posting liberal politics but since then hes gotten aggressively centrist, presumably in an effort to not alienate his sizable conservative fanbase, saying shit like this:

whereas Tyler Childers has used his own influence to do good for his community, trying bring attention to Black Lives Matter in a way that speaks to Appalachia, etc

basically Tyler seems like good people and Zach seems like someone whos driven by fame and money.

and not for nothing but I find Tyler Childers music just way more interesting, Zach Bryan has some gems but it sometimes feels like hes a quantity over quality guy with a more limited range

I dont get that impression from that tweet. It sounds like hes referencing assholes who constantly try to make things about politics when it wasnt prompted.

Its not just that tweet. He just in general has a pretty insufferable online presence and that plus stuff he says about politics besides that (hes a libertarian, wont vote for trump or Biden, there was a period where people were starting up fuck Joe Biden chants at his shows and he didnt really shut it down until people started really calling him out for it online, etc).

been following him since he was a low level opening act all the way back in 2021 and politics aside I just get vibes that hes a douche. Which would be fine if his music was unimpeachably great but tbh you could trim like half of his discography and not lose too much. Unlike say, Jason Isbell who is also a big douche online but makes (imo) way better music in a similar space

i only bring up politics because I think its admirable what Tyler Childers does with his fame in comparison, and I think country music could use more voices like that

also pretty much every song on Purgatory is better than anything Zach Bryan has ever done.

the collab he did with Kacey Musgraves was her best song in six years

I Remember Everything? Yeah, that song slaps, even if its super depressing.
