Lately I've been seeing clips of King of the Hill on Instagram and Facebook for some reason, and it made me want to revisit the show. After watching a couple random episodes, I thought fuck it, let's watch it from the beginning.

I thought it might be fun to jot down my thoughts along the way. There will be spoilers aplenty, I'm sure, so reader discretion is advised.

Enjoy.

Its because the follow up show is coming. I dont have high hopes for it, considering the VAs for Dale, Luanne, and Lucky have passed away. And Khan wont be there, either.

But the show is hilarious. I wish I could experience it for the first time again.

Season 1, Episode 1 - "Pilot" or, Hank versus Twig Boy

- We get our first "That boy ain't right" of the series in under 4 minutes!
- Bobby's awful grip on the baseball bat and he carries it with him to first base in the exact same position he was holding it when the ball happened to hit the bat in the first place
- Hank appears to park his truck in a place that's not an actual parking spot at Mega Lo Mart
- First appearance of Peggy butchering Spanish lol
- Dale yelling for beers from Nancy followed by the unspoken reveal that his son was fathered by another man
- Boomhauer scares off the social worker. Whether the social worker was scared off by his spitfire delivery, or his angry complaints about not being able to reach his office about the dog barking, I don't know
- Brittany Murphy is SO funny as Luanne. I love the voice she chose to do for her.
- Hank's noise when he tries to tell Bobby he loves him
- The license plate on the van that sends Twig Boy on his way back to Los Angeles says EP7965. I don't know if there's significance to that, but I hope to find out.

Favorite quote: "Don't play lawyer ball, son."

Season 1, Episode 2 - "Square Peg" or, Nature versus Nurture

- Peggy's expressionless hard blink and promptly exiting the room when Bobby says the word "penis" aloud
- Hank crying at the "good show" where he learned how sex works with Cotton
- Peggy's mom's face blushing when young Peggy asks if her monthly visitor is Uncle Joe
- I let out an audible "Oh my God" when Bonnie described her sex life and how she tolerated it
- Dale calls to threaten Peggy out of teaching the sex ed class using a poorly disguised voice, but Hank answers the phone and identifies him. Dale asks Hank to put Peggy on the phone and, having the right audience this time, repeats his threat
- I lol'd hard at Peggy repeating the word "happiness" in the mirror to coax herself into saying "penis"
- Hank recognizes the double standard when it comes to how having sex is viewed when it comes to boys versus girls, suggesting it's favorable and Bobby should accept it as good fortune
- God I love the sound of Randy Travis
- Dale leaves a message

Favorite quote:
"Hey, Bobby. Your mom's going to teach sex ed."
"Yeah, I know."
"We're going to get to see her boobs."
"...So?"

Season 1, Episode 3 - "The Order of the Straight Arrow", or Snipe Hunt

- Joseph thinks Peggy is the coolest. Why? She smells like Miracle Whip
- Hank is dismissive of unconditional fatherly love. "Can you imagine how I'd have turned out if my dad loved me no matter what?"
- "John Wayne State Park"
- Hank's Native American name is "Kicking Elk"
- A woman emerges from Boomhauer's tent, gives him a peck on the cheek, and darts off
- 17 minutes into the 22 minute episode we finally see the destination that a clandestine Peggy has been so eagerly anticipating: Lubbocks Very Big Shoes - Fashions for the Large Footed Lady. The salesman politely offers to have his men carry the shoe box to Peggy's truck for her
- The hippies use their hacky sacks as projectile weapons by kicking them at Hank's car
- Bill, earlier too depressed to blink, wants his ex wife's socks back
- Phew, knocking a crane unconscious is not a crime
- Peggy files off the 1 in the "Size 16" on the underside of her new shoes

Favorite quote: "How do you know my name, crane killer?"

Okay, got distracted by election shit, my bad. I watched the Willie Nelson episode tonight, but I was eating dinner and didnt take notes. It was funny, but less funny than the episodes that came before it though, so no great loss.
