Okay, realistically... Trump and his cronies are a bunch of incompetent morons, and I doubt Trump really cares about anything past his own ego, so how much awful crap are they really going to manage to implement?

(This is me entering the "bargaining" phase of grief. I know it's going to be horrible no matter what.)

Trump is simply too incompetent for anything like Project 2025 to truly work. Everyone involved will be there to solely to grift a few million.
Best we can hope for is the House blocking most anything truly heinous.
But anything that needs funding won't get it and Democrats will for sure "compromise" on ridiculous tax cuts for the wealthy.

Honestly, not a lot. People always take his dumb big statements too seriously.

The real threat is all the people who can now work freely under his banner and with his influence. The Project 2025 people.

Democracy in the US might just be over now.

I don't think this is a doomer take. It's reality. The MAGA cult is getting a 2nd chance at destroying the democratic processes after failing at it the first time with J6. Trump has way more ability to install loyalists into his cabinet now than he did in 2016. JD Vance might not care about preserving the constitution like Pence did.

Trump also now has absolute criminal immunity given to him by the supreme court, and knows that he can essentially do whatever he wants through executive action and won't have to defend it no matter how blatantly criminal it is.

I just don't see this going well, unless Trump dies early on in his run and it turns out JD Vance isn't really that crazy and puts a stop to the cult takeover.

Speaking as an international citizen I think people don't fully grasp how bad things are about to get if Trump does implement what he's been talking about regarding trade.

Basically you can kiss goodbye to the world order of today. The US is about to vacate its seat as head of world trade (which China will immediately fill), it's about to leave Europe to deal with a rogue nuclear nation, and it's about to let China and North Korea take over the Pacific (through economic coercion).

The US will never get its position back in the world order. Once the world order has been changed that's it. Now the average citizen in the US probably doesn't give two shits about the world at large (hell a good chunk of Trump voters don't even seem to give a shit about their own citizens) but the US losing its influence is going to cause a lot of economic damage for the US itself.

Just to give a small example of one of the US economical impacts I suspect will happen. When Trump starts putting exhorbitant tariffs on all foreign media those companies are going to move to Europe/the UK to do business. When Trump goes after the entertainment industry for being "woke" the mega corporations that run that industry will, likewise, move overseas. Once they are set up there they will not return.

That's assuming the US even wants to turn back the clock in four years instead of doubling down and electing a Republican that reinforces everything Trump gets up to.

And believe it or not this is the happy scenario of a Trump presidency. Those following world affairs and the current geopolitical state of things are likely well aware we're approaching a possible World War 3 (indeed many a person has possibly already thought something alone the lines of "in three years time we're going to look back on the Ukraine war as the start of World War 3").

Trump turning the US isolationist letting all these powers run unchecked could very easily be the trigger.

I'd advise anybody who is planning any sort of major tech purchase (TV, game system, PC, laptop, whatever) to get those purchases done before February because that sector will be the first to go down the shitter once Trump starts implementing his agenda. I know that's my plan, I'm not American but I need a proper computer for my upcoming studies and my current one is on its last legs.

Doubt it. The planet's survived far worse than what we're doing to it and bounced back.

Frankly with how fast things are moving (1.6c is going to be hit in the coming months, almost twenty five years early!) I suspect we're going to see some of those massive population die-offs in the next thirty years and all three of the worlds biggest polluters are in the line of fire of those die-offs.

The environmental problem is likely going to resolve itself in Mother Nature's usual brutal fashion. It also might happen so fast a decent chunk of modern-civilization will live to tell the tale.

Also, the Trump admin takes full control over the military and other parts of the executive branch, such as NOAA and the FDA.
Enjoy losing access to life saving drugs, or receiving false information about the path of a hurricane because Trump won't let the executive branch contradict him. This is probably one of the scariest parts of all.

He will also weaponize the military, Department of Defense, the FBI, and the ATF.
IIRC he's voiced openness to a military invasion of Mexico to eliminate the drug cartels. He also wants to "shut down the border" which means hundreds of thousands of jobs will be lost and we can no longer receive imports via truck or train from Mexico.

The GOP needs the elderly and disabled veteran mail-in vote, esp. in state and local elections. Even DeSantis doesn't want to completely eliminate mail-in voting.
