I was born here and my parents came here legally and have their citizenship. Are we fucked?

Apparently anyone not born here is at risk. You might be ok. Not sure on your parents. I'm worried for someone I know who was adopted from China. They have been a citizen since they were 8.

maybe the terms are used differently in the US

but 1st generation immigrant are the ones that cross the border
the ones who are born there afterwards are second generation

I actually went through the process to gain citizenship from the country my parents emigrated from and got it for my kids as well.

It means that the threat is not new and that the process is long. To believe they will go after legal citizens who have committed no crimes means that so much more coordination and escalation has to happen that there is no need to spend your days worrying right now

It's incredibly cumbersome to deport people who are here illegally as it is. Resources are limited and it's a years long process. You have nothing to worry about if you're here legally.

also the repubs are not super happy with the fact that if two illegals come here, any children born in the US automatically gain citizenship

Not even people born in the US are necessarily safe. People in the Trump admin have in the past said they want to overturn birthright citizenship and they may be able to do that with the rubber stamp Supreme Court.

it's only cumbersome because it costs money. they're planning on cutting at least 1 trillion from the rest of the budget, so there will be plenty for deportations.

With how incompetent the Trump administration has historically been, I have my doubts.

There also have been American citizens kicked out of the US on a mass scale in the past. If Trump puts through universal tariffs and the economy goes to shit I wouldn't doubt it something similar happens again.

There's a likelihood that they'll do forced DNA tests and if you have even a spec of Non-American/Non-White DNA, you're pretty much deported.

Yes likely. The time, resources, cost, logistics and civil unrest it would cause nationwide makes it beyond unfeasible.

My spouse is from Mexico, and married to me. I'm trans, so if they overturn same sex marriage, they could define me as male, say our marriage is invalid, and deport him. This is a genuine fear I have.

no, you do have something to worry about even if you are here legally. you haven't been paying attention. Trump just recently said that there "is no pricetag" for what he's gonna do with the mass deportation. that it has to happen, regardless of the cost or the logistics. and others have already brought up the fact that they are right now working on introducing a law that will make it so they can "denaturalize" basically any naturalized citizen that they want, so they can be deported too. this isn't a fucking joke. it's not a conspiracy theory. the Heritage Foundation and all the christofascist white nationalist pieces of shit who are the real driving force behind all this want all nonwhite people gone from this country.

Elon's first task at the new Agency of Government Efficiency will be to make deportation more efficient.

The immigrants coming in was the common enemy for both parties among the people and they were allowed in by the Democrats.

This is what the next main debate will be. All the new immigrants have already started breading and hoping to have a child born here to help them stay, the child will be the excuse for them. You will have people saying you can't deport the American baby because it's innocent, etc...this is what this topic is about and the fear we have now this is how the Democrats set us up completely to be at the mercy of the Republicans.

The Reds want women to give birth no matter what and the Dems allowed all these people in to counter them that way the immigrants all have to give birth no matter what too The problem is that this puts all of us already here at risk because they might actually manage to deport some of these new people with American babies.

What was the end game for Democrats allowing all these people in? No one seems to ever ask this question. For how long and how many people were they going to continue allowing in? It's been a few years already.

The only logical answer to that question is that the new immigrants give birth to American citizens and the Democrats have future voters because the new American babies would be grateful for giving their parents all the help they needed.

Here is the tinfoil hat version. Check the census at the gov site for years we have been knowing that Latinos would eventually make up majority of the population in the US. Does it sound crazy to say that both parties worked together to set us all up to get rid of us? Here is the icing on the cake Latinos here have asked for benefits we never got them besides DACA and others things that split us up even more and now the Dems have been giving the new immigrants everything to them instead which was done to turn us against each other even more.

The Dems blamed the Reds for never allowing them to help us but the Reds can't stop the help from the immigrants coming in? Do immigrants coming in have more power over the Reds and more rights than the people who have been here for years specifically the ones who are US citizens? This makes no sense at all unless they were working together this whole time to put us against each other even more.
