I could do with losing some weight and in general exercising more (yeah I know a lot of the former is diet, working on that too, just ignore the can of soda Im drinking as I write this).

I used to go for walks in the past but eh, I feel a bit awkward doing that in an urban area rather than rural. Then I got a fitness game on my VR headset, which I used for maybe two weeks. Im hoping that the ongoing cost actually motivates me a bit more here.

Havent got a proper routine yet, got an appointment on Monday to figure that out. For now Ive just been using the bike and treadmill.

Nah, its a pretty safe area. Not perfect but definitely towards the safer end of the spectrum. I just feel weird about walking just for the sake of it, dont mind so much in the middle of nowhere. I do sometimes walk up to Dominos (something I need to start doing less too) or other places if Im actually going somewhere.

I guarantee that you only feel that way and nobody is actually thinking twice about someone walking.

I actually used to feel self-conscious at crosswalks and that everyone is staring at me, yet when I'm the driver someone at a crosswalk is the most normal and mundane thing ever.

Eh, we can worry about that when I dont need to be improving my exercise too. Ill stick with what seems to work for now.

Didnt go yesterday cause I finish work at 9 PM on Fridays then start at 9.30 AM on Saturdays, but went again today. Thats 3 times in the 4 days since I signed up.

Imma try and get in the habit of going every day (except maybe Fridays) even if its just 20 mins on the treadmill or something.

Two things I have realised:
  1. I am dropping weight pretty quickly already (in fairness, I had already started to work on improving my diet - or at least, not eating too much - before I started going to the gym). After a few years of fluctuating in the 115 to 120 range, I've consistently weighed in at under 115 lately, including today's weight of 112.2 which is probably my lowest weight in close to a decade.
  2. My clothes weigh a lot more than I would've thought. I usually check my weight before I jump in the shower (so, not wearing anything), but I had a shower very late last night so didn't feel the need to this morning, but figured I should weigh myself undressed for consistency... then out of interest, weighed myself again after getting dressed again. My weight with the clothes on was 113.8. (And now that I know the difference - I'm pretty consistent in what I'm wearing, I have a lot of multiple copies of the same thing - I don't have to bother to undress next time, I can just use the power of maths.)

Got my appointment to get an actual workout routine today.

Honestly tho, IDK if I actually wanna do that now. I might go along and hear them out but stick to what I'm doing at least for now. I'm actually doing really well (I've gone every day since I joined apart from Friday when I had a late finish followed by an early start the next day at work) and don't wanna put myself off if something in the program irritates me, at least not until I've gotten a bit more results out of it.
