The FAQ has been up for a few days, but they just added a new one today:

Are DLCs, expansion packs and remakes/ remasters eligible?

The Game Awards aims to recognize the best creative and technical work each year, irrespective of the format of that contents release. Expansion packs, new game seasons, DLCs, remakes and remasters are eligible in all categories, if the jury deems the new creative and technical work to be worthy of a nomination. Factors such as the newness of the content and its price/value should be taken into consideration.

So to those who were wondering if Shadow of the Erdtree could potentially be GotY, here's your sign.

It would be pretty sad if SOTE won anything...

I think dlc and remakes should have their own category unless it's extreme like Rebirth

DLC kind of sort of is.

Erdtree's DLC is a bit of a complicated matter for me since it is actually a fairly large Substantial DLC that honestly feels more like an oldschool Expansion pack then a simple short DLC

But honestly my GoTY is still probably metaphor, Astro is good, FF7 Rebirth is good and Like a dragon 8 would also be up there for me and also the TTYD remaster as well, But beyond those games there is nothing i would probably put up there

No DLCs please. At least rebirth is a whole new game.

At this point just give it to astrobot since its the highest rated FULL game of the year.

I got a feeling Astrobot is going to win it. They gave it to an RPG last year and probably don't want to that again. Also, after Trump got elected I think Metaphor's chances really went down since the game is about an election and my guess is the voters aren't going to vote for a game that reminds them of that.

It's still batshit insane how this entire awards show is an extremely convoluted way of Geoff Keighley using his parents' IMAX fortune so he can hang out with celebrities.

That's pretty silly, but they did nominate a game made by a multi billion dollar company with thousands of employees for indie GOTY.
