Fredo didn't know his scheming with Roth would go that far with Michael being killed. I don't know exactly what he expected, but he was weak and stupid and blinded by pride and jealousy after all. Michael was eaten up by guilt all the years afterwards so it wasn't the right move for him. It also strained his relationship with his son. I don't see Vito or Sonny doing what Michael did. Vito would have chastised him and probably banned him from the (crime) family. Sonny probably would have beaten the crap out of him and then banish him, but I think even with his temper he would have never killed Fredo like Michael did. --- Fix your hearts or die. The odds of a weasel like Fredo dying of natural causes in mafia life were slim to none, no matter who ended up pulling the trigger; I'd say he only made it that far in the first place by virtue of being Vito's son and plot armor in general. Michael certainly wasn't in the right and he was the only one in the family cold enough to go through with fratricide, but at least he gave Fredo the small courtesy of dying while doing something he loved. --- Simple questions deserve long-winded answers that no one will bother to read. ...
