Will the bitcoin appreciate or depreciate?

If its a guaranteed $5 million in 5 years no fluctuation, I might wait it out. If theres a chance it could be worthless give me the $1 million today

1M in USD. I don't care how much bitcoin is. It is too volatile and holds no actual value whatsoever.

If I put 1M into VOO today with 10% gains every year, that's 100K a year as long SP500 continues to rise.

My mind makes me want to go for the second option as I don't think bitcoin will go lower than 20 cents in 5 years. But I can make it work with 1 million dollars today easily, especially if I stay in my country, so I'll go with that lol.

For context the apartment I'm living in costs around 5 million dominican pesos right now which is not even 90k USD.

If you need any more than maybe $40k a year to sustain yourself youll have a difficult time without touching the initial million or involving potentially riskier (and tougher to trade) higher yield things like busted preferreds.

Do you have any example of a five-year span of the total US market or any well known index fund with a 400% return, or any kind of analysis to support this idea for the next five years?

Ok I didn't really mean index funds. I meant the underlying high performing companies that make up the index funds.

Most recently if you bought into ARM's IPO you already made 163% returns for example.

Index funds track the whole market or specific subsets/sectors. Not individual stocks.

if you have a reliable way to pick stocks with 5x return over a five year span you should get a job on Wall Street and start doing it professionally. You would quickly become one of the worlds most renowned traders.
