He tried cheating in 2016 and 2020, so it wouldn't surprise me if he cheated in 2024. All this talk of election interference, plus it's highly suspicious that he would survive two assassination attempts and defeat a candidate who ran a fairly smooth campaign. And of course that's not to mention this woman who is in jail for helping Trump cheat:

It is a known fact that he cheated or attempted to cheat in 2016 and 2020.
So I am sure he did some kind of cheating in 2024.

But did the level of cheating win him the election in 2024... sadly I don't think so, just good old fashion American Racism and Sexism.

I voted no, but the caveat is if it did happen it wouldn't be at all surprising.

There's a lot of consider, though. Why did Trump have, I *think* over 100 stooges in elections offices throughout the country?

What did he mean about never needing to vote again?

What did he mean about that "little secret" with Mike Johnson?

At the end of the day I just figure the right wing disinformation machine, combined with new media(podcasters and scrolling), combined with apparent voter apathy and the fact he does have a rock solid support from his Cult, and that about explains it.

One county in Michigan reran their absentee ballots thru the tabulator because it had been programmed wrong.

I could see way more mistakes like this being made than usual because there was so much pressure on the election workers and because of how many voted. In whose favor would the mistakes be? I would argue it is worth the money for ,la to challenge it in the swing states.

Define cheating.

Gerrymandering?
Closing DMVs and voter registration locations?
Voter ID laws?
Reducing polling places?
Making it harder to stay in line long enough to vote?
Voter roll purges?
Redistricting?
Redistricting and giving SCOTUS the finger when even they tell you that your districting is so fucked, but leaving it long enough that you have to use the fucked maps anyway?
A postal service barely able to handle mail in ballots because the last guy to cheat that is still there and unable to be removed even 4 years later?
Making absentee balloting harder?
Removing or restricting dropboxes?
The usual institutional racism?

All that shit is somehow legal and within the bounds of "the rules." Technically not cheating. But it's systemic and systematic and has been for decades, chipping away at the power and will of the public to even engage in voting.

And then there's things like being so complicit with Russia that when they call in bomb threats across multiple states, you don't even flinch, or release a statement saying you oppose attempts to sabotage the election?

And then there's that sus thing going on about the count. We had a 5+ page thread about that everyone pooh-poohed and thought wasn't even worth looking into. Not even an accusation of cheating, but, "That's some deeply weird shit we need to just examine and figure out what's going on," and people were all, "Stop being conspiracy theorists like the last 4 years." Telling enough that there should be some kind of congressional investigation.

And that thing Trump said about having a secret weapon in his little Johnson. Was it bluster or openly admitting to cheating? We couldn't possibly investigate, because then we'd be as bad as the red hats for asking people to open their books to public scrutiny.

So... did Trump and the GOP cheat to win? Fuck yeah. Every moral and ethical analysis is a big yes to that. Did he break the law cheating to win? Probably, but it's unlikely to be provable, and should be something we at least examine on the record before we get a fascist back in the big chair.

Covid motivated a lot of people, either because of Trumps terrible handling or the rules being changed in many places to actually make voting easier.

That may not be the explanation, but I feel like it makes sense.

Though I do want an analysis into why voter turnout was lower this time around.

This. I don't think it's really a factor, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was some fraud out there. There were some nuts burning ballots in drop boxes and stuff like that too.

I say go ahead and do recounts, but they never change the outcome. I just think the American people were really just stupid enough to elect Trump again.

No. Exit polls seem to line up, and democrats did have a couple of reasons to choke:
  • Biden dropping out late and Harris getting the nomination handed to her without primaries was a mess.
  • Inflation was an issue, and while it wasn't Biden's or Harris's fault they could've done more about it instead of more or less denying it's a thing.

How much more do you want done? Inflation is at near historic lows, and Biden has worked on bringing that number down his whole term.

No, he didn't.

This is only considering outright cheating (hacking voting machines, etc) and not slimy politics like gerrymandering (where both parties engage in, but conservatives are clearly much more aggressive with exploiting).

Unfortunately, "things were less expensive 4 years ago" is what the prevailing general public opinion was, and that's what they voted on ("If it was less expensive under Trump, that means voting him in again will make it less expensive again"). That's all there is to say about it, even if it reflects disastrously on the nation.

I mean, yes they cheated. They cheat every time.

Every time they close polling places in predominantly democrat areas, gerrymander districts until they look like Atari sprites in favor of their trash candidates, purge voter rolls weeks before an election (again in predominantly democrat areas), and so on and so on and so on, they're cheating.

But I believe America is just way too stupid, way too checked out, and way too lazy now.

We just told the government and corporations that we're way too fucking stupid to vote. And it's gonna fucking cost us.
