Honestly I'd give it higher with a cutscene skip. I'd probably have replayed this way more often if it did. Funny it's sequel 2 years later adds one but penalizes you for using it.

Pretty grueling endgame optional content but as it doesn't gatekeep story I don't really count that much. Not like 16 which isn't nearly as bad but has like half the plot behind it.

I despise pretty much everything about the story, but the music is nice and the battle system was cool and influential enough that a lot of other, better games have used it as a baseline for theirs.

I agree with FFD that X-2 is the better game, and I still don't even have a particular fondness for that one.

Has a few issues - its pacing at points, the awful part where Seymour murders all the Ronso off-screen for no reason, and its clunky attempt at puzzles - but is otherwise a really solid game with a good battle system, some good characters, a few funny meme moments, and a lot of lore. I should replay it sometime.

From the most objective view I can give is FFX a 10? Probably not. But from a subjective influential personal impact lifetime achievement award perspective it can be nothing but a 10.
