So I'm nearly 20 hours into the game. It's not captivating me the way Persona does but that's almost entirely because of the medieval fantasy setting. That kind of setting is alright but it doesn't really hit the same notes. I prefer a more modern setting, but I can live with it. It's still a great time though, and I think the gameplay really starts kicking off after the Grand Cathedral dungeon. Characters are not too bad, I'm growing to like a few of them (like the old mechanic guy). The music is just whatever. I'm tempted to buy one of the Persona DLC sets just to get some cool battle music lol. I'd say it's roughly a 7 out of 10 so far, edging closer to an 8. But I don't think I'm gonna like this more than Persona simply because of the setting. Anyway, looking forward to playing more. Gallica is still best girl. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I agree with the above posts, the setting is actually one of the main reasons I latched on to the game so hard. I was genuinely interested in the world and its lore, and it makes it feel very unique compared to persona highschool every time. I vastly prefer press turn to personas combat as well --- Hee Ho ... I had the opposite reaction. Metaphor had me invested from the jump, whereas P5 took some time. Even then it took a year, and some months off in between, too finish and I was dragging myself across the finish. I'm getting used to it and I think the game has great character moments (the yelling scene to lure out Heismay was genuinely funny), and they're definitely less one dimensional than Persona characters. Speaking as someone who loves Persona 3 4 and 5 I dropped Metaphor the other day. Got to around the 40% (I think) mark and realized I was finding it a chore to boot up which is usually when I call it quits on a game. Cast just doesn't hit it for me. They're not especially interesting (besides Metaphor most of the time felt like it wasn't hitting that more fantastical element nor was it coming even remotely close to that character aspect. Louise was cool but he's not prominent enough that I'm going to slog through 8+ hour segments to get the next hit of Louise doing something while twirling his Magnificent Bastard mustache. Meanwhile the main cast is, to be blunt, boring as paint drying. Persona worked because the cast was vibrant to the point where even just seeing all the mundane interactions of the cast was appealing, in Metaphor it bogs the pacing down to an intolerable degree instead. Music was also surprisingly meh considering Shoji Meguro's work on Persona 3 4 and 5 (and Digital Devil Saga). Kinda felt like it was aping Nier at times but without any of the subdued elements that make Nier Replicant and Automata's soundtracks special. /my two cents. I went into Metaphor pumped given the creative minds behind it, and on paper "Fantasy Persona" sounds awesome but it just ain't for me. --- Currently Playing: SaGa Emerald Beyond (Switch), Fate/stay night Remastered (Switch) ... I'm almost finished with the game. For the most part, it really feels like a classic 90s early 00s JRPGs in a good way. A lot of games that try to recapture the magic of those games seem to fail but not Metaphor. Most of the game has a genuine sense of adventure that really hearkens back to old school JRPGs yet they still also are able to make the game modern. --- We all live in a Yellow SUV! a Yellow SUV! ... Normally I dislike medieval settings, but I actually liked it in this game. I loved the voice acting as well. It had the best story of any Atlus game I've played. Or maybe even any JRPG I've played altogether. At least in recent years. I even liked every single party member which is usually kinda rare. --- Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/kid_prodigy23 ... game seems pretty cool from that i've played. i'm not far but i get the feeling the characters won't suffer from the same type of issues people might have with persona characters and certain scenes/arcs characters might go on. but i could be wrong. atlus could calm down on their menus tho. the flashiness doesn't do anything for me anymore. they're gonna need menu options for me if they keep doing this lol. and their dlc practices got worse. i might be on an island with this take, but the battle theme is trash. got the persona 3 dlc in hopes i could change the theme, but you can't even do that anymore i guess? hopefully there's a mod out there because i will straight up miss out on this game if there's no way to change it. --- http://i.imgur.com/O5APL.jpg http://www.last.fm/user/jaeganja ...
