The trailer looks amazing but they really need to change that name. It sounds too generic.

I guess it's generic just like every other game ever? Every game has generic stuff in their titles lol.

got me wondering if this is gonna be an open-world game with space exploration or another straight up linear narrative driven game like Uncharted or The Last of Us...

Just going off the cinematic, it feels like the plot will probably be about or at least start, with the main character hunting down bounties. I think she's after a group of people amd wants to take down each member. In her ship I think I remember seeing a bunch of news clippings about some old criminal gang or something. Maybe it's about revenge.

nice to see Kumail Nanjiani is on this btw! he's a good actor!

It takes place in an alternate history where technology has advanced to interstellar space travel in the 1980s, and is heavily inspired by classic anime like Akira and Cowboy Bebop, featuring a soundtrack by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. The story involves a bounty hunter who ends up stranded on a planet that lost communication to the rest of the universe hundreds of years ago (inspired by Metroid too? possibly).

seems like a cool, fun game. will be interested to see how it turns out

This seems tailor made for me honestly. Retro future sci fi with 80s aesthetics. Space faring bounty hunter. Inspired by Cowboy Bebop. Music by Trent Reznor.

Only thing that looks disappointing is it seems to be set just on one planet instead of being a world-hopping space ship focused game.

I think the problem a lot of people have with it, or at least I and a few friends have, is the retconning and changes to the original game when it really wasn't his game to change? It's almost his way of claiming something that was the work of others by changing it to better match his sequel.

The big one for me was the ambiguity of the hospital in the original was to make what Joel was doing pretty questionable but to introduce that these experiments had happened before and failed kind of ruined the morality aspect of it.

All the people that shit on Starfield for being a "generic" space game will all of a sudden fall in love with this one.

I don't like the title not because of "generic," but because I specifically don't like the word "intergalactic." >_>. Makes me think of one of those super nerdy, scientific explanations of things. The plus side though is it has Gaia (one of these days I swear I'll remember her name lol, but every time I see her in something including You, I go "There's Gaia!"). >_>

if it played well, was fun, did anything to stand out, then things would be different.

I don't remember that from the first game? I mean, I remember from the very end someone telling Joel that there was no 100% sure chance that the cure would work (Marlene?), which made what was already a very easy choice even easier for me. I don't think that was a retcon, especially since it was done from the perspective of Abby, not from Joel or Ellie.

Either way, I'm going to call that kind of a weak reasoning. TLoU2 has major issues with it, but it wasn't because of that "retcon".

I have no idea how it's going to play except more action-y, but it looks outstanding.

A little disappointed to hear that the game will only take place on one planet. Can't show off a cool Porsche spaceship and then tell me I won't get to fly it anywhere. But I'll reserve my judgements until we see more gameplay on the ground.

People don't shit on Starfield for being generic. People shit on Starfield because it's a space game that has tons of empty, lifeless planets and copy/pasted building interiors. Like seriously, if it's not one of the few hub planets, you'll see the same 2 or 3 building interior layouts over and over again. And for a game that hyped up the ability to explore space, the space travel is mostly relegated to fast travel loading screens. You couldn't manually travel between planets or solar systems. It was majorly disappointing.

So Intergalactic will absolutely get praised if it has more going for it than Starfield did.

the first game wasn't retconned; the doctor's note says how no one else they've experimented on is like Ellie.

plus, ND was both the writer and creative director of the first game, so it was as much his game as the second one (in the second, he was a co-writer).
