Was gonna finally use my free one week trial of Switch online to play some old games like Wario Land 3 and 64 titles like Banjo or DK 64, but apparently the game is not on there.

I never did play DK 64 or even know about its existence for years, I just wanted to confirm how bad or dated it was for my own edifice.

Its a good game. Not DKC2 good, but good. Just emulate it.

The last time somebody made a topic like this they manifested Donkey Kong Land 3 getting added to the service on the same day

So, maybe wait a few hours and see what happens lol

It was on Wii U Virtual Console. The Wii U eShop is dead and gone, so you can't legally get DK64 on it now.

Nintendo's usage of the virtual console is so completely baffling. It really makes no sense why at minimum all first party titles aren't completely available on the Switch. If they're so against emulation, why go with the Disney Vault approach instead of having everything ready to go? It would at least make sense if they were trying to sell more mini-consoles, but they haven't done that at all and haven't put out any new editions.

Yeah their disney vault insistence is one of my biggest annoyances with them, nintendo really be sniffing their own farts half the time.

Yeah, it's on Wii U VC, but if you haven't already gotten it then it's inaccessible since they shut down the eShop on that console. Oddly enough, the game running better than on original hardware actually messed up some parts of the game making it extremely hard at spots. The game utilized slowdown to its advantage and without the slowdown, stuff like the Frantic Factory boss will be a huge difficulty spike.

It'll be on NSO eventually.

IIRC 3 had some additional content in the GBA version. Wasn't a fan of the music change but I'd look into that otherwise

Yup, that's one of the main reasons why I'm still holding onto my Wii U. That and Galaxy 2.

Although wasn't there some scare earlier this year or last year about some Wii U's bricking if they've been sitting dormant for a handful of years? Sounds like BS but I just figured I'd ask in case anyone actually did have an incident.

I dunno the specifics so I dunno if it's that the Wii U needs to be plugged in and receiving some kind of power, or if the console has to be turned on every once in a while. Either way, I've been doing that but I think my Wii U's slowly dying because 25% of the time when I boot it up it fails to do so by crashing on startup, so I have to hard reset and try again.

Lol that reminds me how bizarrely BS it was that they didn't include smg 2 in that 3d switch collection. I wasn't gonna buy it anyway since I already own or have played those games, but goddamn nintendo has got some evil stones

Yeah, I wish it was a bit faster. And since they've confirmed they'll carry over the service to the new console they have more reason to drag their feet.

Just emulate it

And the rest of Nintendo's library like the rest of us
