How do you know it won't happen?

I literally use my WaveBird with my Switch to play Smash Bros and that came out over 20 years ago.

Switch Pro controller is a great controller. With my main console being a PlayStation the obvious difference in battery life is huge. A heavy session on PlayStation can cause me to need to swap out controllers that day.

With my Switch that thing could go like a week. They get an A+ in battery life.

It would suck massively to have to drop another $300 on all new controllers to play MK9... but I'm confident even old JoyCons will be semi-compatible, and just need other means to charge

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

So far the only confirmed new button is the "C" button underneath the home button on Joy-Cons. The thing sticking out behind the new Joy-Cons might be the magnetic release latch but I've heard some reports of it being its own button. Not sure how it would work without it accidentally releasing the Joy-Cons.
