1 year of schooling for $2 an hour more sounds... not great.

I was thinking maybe I could do a computer toucher job for some company and go up in position there. But how do I know what companies are worth working for?
I don't how much you make, and that doesn't mean people would still be hired at $17 for my first job now after 10.years

You just have to think about the long haul and growth in the field you choose. Your first job is always gonna be the lowest paying and it's not gonna be your favorite by a long shot.
Oeople that major in biology usually go into biotech, medical device, or healthcare. You can always change to something completely different. Find something that pays well and that has growth. Just don't settle.

I graduated with a bachelor's in a liberal arts (as I said before), with counselors telling me I could get a job with the government. I thought I could get something $25 out of graduating.. But that wasn't the case. Government jobs I applied to were extremely competitive and there wasn't much. I ended up doing data entry and thought I could settle at $13 an hour. I did that for a little over 2 years, but after the first year I was getting tired of it. I was grateful to have a manager to let me have a flexible schedule where I could work while still earning benefits, and going to school full-time. Going to biotech was the best career decision I made. I can't imagine where I would be now if I didn't. And I'm earning just anyone who majored in biology or chemistry in the same position.

I will say again that at the moment, all tech jobs aren't doing super well. There's been a lot of lay offs and not many people hiring. But that could change in 1-2 years.

If you want stability, I recommend going into healthcare. Healthcare industry always needs nurses, doctors, etc. Physicians assistant make a lot of money. I believe it's a 4 year program. But ask yourself if healthcare is right for you. The hospital setting, dealing with people, and the hours.

Healthcare definitely isnt for me. I have too much trauma from being forced to major in biology pre-med.

How do I know whats a good company to be a computer toucher at? Do I just look at their net worth? I have no idea what to look for in a company beyond their starting wage/salary and hours.

With a Bachelors in Biology Im fairly certain you qualify for a CSI job for the USDA, which is what I do. My bachelors is in accounting l, I started off as a Food Inspector and just promoted from there.

I make about $33 an hour as GS 9-1, but Im also far enough north in VA I get the DC locality pay. But the position caps out at over $30 no matter where youre at, at some point.

Stay away from cattle if you have the option.

but the nice thing about our job is that the overtime is paid for by the company and not the government, so its easy for us to get OT. Ill come close to six figures this year and a lot of the people with more time in easily clear it.

I get paid $18 an hour to follow (on foot mind you) a horse and carriage and scoop up the horses dung and throw it in a bucket (with a small shovel of course). This thing goes all over town and I gotta follow the bloody thing. I was embarrassed at first, but Ive come to embrace the dung scooping.
