I picked up P3R as an impulse buy. I have P3P on switch, curious if people consider P3R with DLC "definitive."

The only thing P3P has over 3R is female protagonist. You can also screw up the ending too I guess.

No female protag, so depends on if that's a deal breaker really. Most people will consider it as such due to updated graphics though.

P3R has AI backgrounds, so it's still a bit of a side grade versus FES.

Well some voice work I feel is better.

Some. Example: Akihiko, Koromaru. Not Fuuka.

Mitsuru really sounds the same despite knowing the voice is different lol.

At least a couple of the backgrounds were shown to have some generative AI used on them. It was a big-ish thing back then, but CE being CE was more about the "There's no FeMC!!!" whining and the AI crap got overshadowed.

I can't find any actual evidence of this and I wouldn't care even if it was true. The backgrounds in the original are far from works of art.

Modern release 3P is a 0 effort port that's genuinely worse than the PSP version on some aspects (bad AI upscaling, NOT AI generation tho, and bad audio quality especially). Probably was just put out like that because they knew a better version of P3 would be available soon after anyway

The AI upscaling used was with generative AI. Generative AI isn't just exclusively making a new picture.

As far as I can tell their post is about P3R.

Portable has six endings that aren't in any other version of the game. Normally you need to be on new game + to get them, download a save to get around that. Margaret and her fights are also only in Portable

Yes, but your last post linked to a Persona 3 Portable post. This reddit link claims a calendar in the background is AI upscaled, which it probably was. And you want us to believe you should play the original PS2 version because the upscaled calendar has weird numbers if you take a screenshot and zoom on on it? The original PS2 version has blurry pixels for numbers on that same calendar.

The Female MC route in P3P also has exclusive music that's missing in the remake.

Aside from the female protagonist, there's no reason to play P3P. It's the worst version of Persona 3.

P3 FES and P3P still best combo. I don't even need party control (it's more something I'd like to have) so I'll take P3 FES. I don't care how it sounds, losing Akihiko's voice acting is a huge blow. Hearing the drastically changed voices in P3R makes me happily lap up chie's alternate voice acting in P4G.

P3R is probably nice for people who missed out on this game that's over 15 years old which might make it the only way to play P3 so that's something. Even though I think they had a ps2 emulation port on ps4 for better or worse.

Edit also we lost the French lyrics in Spring so I can't even imagine any reason to even play P3R.

You're free to form your own opinion but claiming that theres no reason to play the game because of different voices (which are incredibly good in their own right) and a slight change to a song is so goofy lmao

Ive never understood being a fan of something to the point that you reject any remake/reimagining because everything isnt exactly the same, especially when the biggest issues you bring up arent even gameplay related

I mean theres saying you dont like the new voice acting as much and theres saying the game is not worth playing because of it

thats a pretty big leap, especially considering reload has some objective improvements over FES like being able to max out your female social links without being forced to date all of them

Ah, that one. Fair enough, my post alluding to them to shove off was mildly inaccurate. That while everything I was saying was true otherwise that one part was the damning chink in the whole affair.

And I have no interest in trying to argue a point when the other person has started the whole thing saying that they don't actually give a crap.

Unless you absolutely need to play as a girl, there is absolutely no reason to play P3P over Reload

All-Stars, simply because you can more easily replay the levels.

IIRC from all the years ago I played SMB3 GBA, the levels you beat remain beaten, with no easy way to replay them. Yeah, they had the e-Reader levels, but how many people even had an e-Reader back then? (A moot point now with the Switch Online version having the e-Reader levels available off the bat.)

I got PS3R on the cheap earlier in the year. I didn't finish it. I don't feel like for various reasons. I def played it on hard, but I had the experience before and unlock some reviewers, I didn't get it for free. I just thought I'd take a look since the Best Buy price was surprisingly cheap. I just moved on. I never planned to play it. P3 is a memory from the past I loved and I have trouble with past and take.

HAH Solar Crimson it is SMBA4 which has the bonus levels those are boss. They have very amusing kaizo levels, before the term was made common.

The cut-off screen and washed-out colors keep the GBA port from ever being a contender
