From 6:30 am to probably 11-11:30 pm tomorrow. Working Saturday-Monday 7 am-3:45 pm, and on call for second shifts Saturday and Monday that would stretch it to 10-11 pm. Culminating in a day from hell Tuesday, going from 5 am to 12-1 am (got out around 12:30 am last year). Hopeful that I won't have to work one of the two days I'm on call, but it may be a pipe dream. What a miserable end to 2024.

If everything falls apart I could get up to almost 80 hours in 5 days, would be a new personal record.

ehhh, tbf I had a nice mellow 3 days off for Christmas

Not really, it's not only split between two weeks but two jobs as well. Should get my typical 3ish hours of overtime at one job for next week, but no more than usual.

2 down, I was in fact called in today. What is it like to have a good job where you don't have to work your ass off to make below average money?

In today's update that nobody asked for or cares about, I did in fact have to come in today when I was on call. So it will be 4 doubles in 5 days. But lo! it gets better. I had to work because one of the guys in the kitchen called out because of a knee injury, he's probably out for tomorrow. Another guy went home because he wasn't feeling well, so I'm sure he's out for tomorrow. So on the literal busiest night of the year, on my fourth double in five days, I get to do the work of 3 people. I'm so done with this life, how do I give it to someone else?

screw all that. especially if it's 2 jobs and you're not just getting made overtime out of it. is it only for the week? or is this a constant thing? like what's your normal work with doing 2 jobs? like 60 hours a week?

Well, it's basically at the whim of the guy who owns the second place. At the first one I average around 43 hours a week working mornings, I've been there forever. But then I answered an email for the second one desperately asking for help, because hey, I'm pretty good at the whole restaurant thing. Why not help out a little and make some money? But the joke was on me, I get to basically be the alternate with no semblance of a set schedule. I'll randomly go like a month or more without having to work there, then suddenly here's 4 shifts in 5 days because we need some help. Sometimes I don't even know when I'm supposed to work until that day or the day before. I'm long over wanting to work there, but I'm too much of a pushover -- I feel bad quitting especially when they constantly need help, so I just get strung along. It's all my fault, is the worst of it.

is the 2nd job related to the 1st at all? or completely separate? if separate then just quit and find a 2nd job with a set part time schedule. or be like i can only work 2-3 days tops or like just don't answer your phone when they call.

if it's related to the 1st then yea can't really go that route but could tell the boss it's effecting you at your main job. then be like you need to limit the days or you just can't do it anymore.

That sounds physically and mentally hazardous.

I was going to say, this sounds like restaurant horseshit. Isn't worth it bro. I have a picture starred and saved on my phones, three in a row now, of my last pay period at my last bar management job. 110 hours in one week. I promised myself never again. Don't do this to your body dude, it /will/ catch up to you.

When I'm not at work, I have my phone on do not disturb and they can't say or do a thing about it. I want the absolute minimum.
