A good chunk of any given New Vegas / Skyrim / Fallout 4 playthrough is hunting materials to craft an overstock of buffs / food items, and I never end up using even a quarter of them.

New Vegas usually gets the best use rate though, since I'm always determined to sell my Stimpaks and heal exclusively through food items (and any Logan's Loophole run gives me a darn good excuse to be a pill-popper).

in real life i dont really hoard anything, in games, ill hoard it all, from the wooden sword of cow turd , up to Save The Queen and Chaos Blade.

Games like Resident Evil sort of made me like that. If I use too many bullets or have to use a healing item I'll sometimes restart from the last save point and try to do better.

In RPGs absolutely. I tend to always complete the game with all the best items never being used. Like in my head even on the final boss Ill be like What if there is a secret ultimate final boss in NG+ optional post game content? so I still wont use it.

Useable items you can only find a limited amount of shouldn't exist. You never know when you're going to actually need them so you end up never using them even at the final boss because there's probably going to be harder challenges post-game.

I admit, I was this kind of guy, but after seeing this trope get mocked on the internet Ive started to change my ways. I collect items, assess what I need, and use or sell them when needed. Ive gotten much better at item management.

Also, as a Fallout NV and 4 player, I feel like most items have a use. In 4, those power armors need supplies after all.

The Old Gateau in Pokemon Diamond/Pearl was a one-of-a-kind item that worked exactly the same as a Full Heal. Since it could only be found once per game, I never used it.

Yup, Skyrim kind of drives me crazy since I constantly have way too much stuff and have to get rid of some to actually be able to move lol.

I use items frequently, and sell off the useless ones

I learned this from FF8. I saved all myMegalixers for the final boss, and it saved me.

I tend to collect every round of ammo I find, then eventually stash the collected ammo in a select place, like the Novac motel room. I probably have a hundreds of mini nukes, missiles, and grenades there, yet I hardly ever use explosives aside from mines to set traps and the occasional dynamite to clear mines I don't dare to approach. Curse you, Lonesome Road's satchel charges!

I've also collected pretty much every weapon, from the powerful and unique to the ubiquitous and useless, repaired them to 100% condition, and... then don't use them.
The same applies for the armors and clothes. It's kind of a pain to collect the prostitute and Vegas tourist apparels, but I did! And I don't have use for them either because they offer nothing special aside from their looks.

I'm toting a compliance regulator and a fully-modded laser rifle and mostly let my companions do the fighting, and I wear clothes that boost my stats, not my DT, so I can more easily pass speech checks / hack computers / open locks etc.
What do I need power armor and a fatman for when my explosives skills is about 30? Well, I found those around somewhere, took them, spent half of my caps to have them fixed, and put them in a wardrobe in the Novac motel room to never to be used.

This has become such a bland "oh yes, I do that toooooo!" thing people say these days. I've subconsciously started making an effort to not do it almost out of spite. Got three characters at 980/1000 HP after a fight? Got 14 Mega Potions in your inventory? Fuck it, they're not gonna use themselves.

Those megalixirs might have provided you a +0.21 success percent at some future battle
