Haven't played 14 since the Stormblood patches so I wouldn't know, but a lot of peepul i hear talk about it are not happy with the story and talk about how Endwalker and Shadowbringers was much better.

On a personal level, I thought Stormblood was... pretty bad. It just sat so poorly with me that it kind of killed my will to go on, which was already hanging on a thin thread due to time constraints and whatnot.

every person i hear talk about it being bad come off as the most insufferable annoying reddit ass people in the world so at this point i am excited to get to it because i have become convinced its going to be great

Imo it is stormblood 2.0

Especially after shadowbringers and endwalker

As someone who hasn't played the dawntrail MSQ yet the main things I hear about it are:

1) It's the start of a new story and the stakes a lower. You can't really take the stakes higher than they were in Endwalker so they did a bit of a reset and grounded the story a bit

2) instead of being the main character, you are the "Auron" to Dawntrails "Yuna". Basically the Heavy/Enforcer in their story.

3) A lot of people didn't like the main character of this expansion. These people are broken down into two categories from my understanding: the people who don't like the fact the voice actor is transgender, or people who don't like the personality of the character who is a bit of a luffy/naruto type idiotball from what I've gathered. So it seems like a bit of bad faith people in here mixed with people who genuinely just don't like the new main character due to the way their personality is. I dunno how much of this leans one way or the other

it's definitely very weak and a poor followup to endwalker, and player numbers certainly tell a tale about it

So I finished it last week and went with an open and optimistic mind and it's mid, no doubt about that.

I do love this game casually and have done so since ARR and this was not it..

It's definitely not bad but it's not as good as Shadowbringers or Endwalker but that's expected as it's doing a lot of world building for the next arc.

If there's a problem it's that there was just too much Wuk Lamat. I like the character but there's definitely times where it feels like she's taking focus away from other characters. The patch 7.1 at least corrected this somewhat as the new main scenario quests helped spread out the focus a bit more. She is still too omnipresent though but again it's certainly improved from 7.0.
