Which is another one of these garbage isekai stories but this one is literally just a guy cooking food for his giant mythical doggie every episode. It's great.

I'm sorry to inform you that basically every anime is like this now. It's always an isekai, it always has some stupid run on sentence title, and for whatever reason so many of them now are about cooking.

Food Wars was dramatic but it actually did work out for thr most part

Shin Chan is a kids comedy turned into an adult comedy in the dub. But it is amazingly over the top hilarious lots of Jokes about Shin's parents being a low income family and Shin does accidentally blow up his house in season 1 but the tone is still very light hearted

The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated is kinda like this. Everything "bad" that happens is actually just the result of a huge misunderstanding.

isekai is like the shitty buffet of the anime industry

There's so much there to consume and the promise is tempting. In reality you'll be eating stale tasteless sausages and cardboard bacon and watery mess most probably, but occasionally you'll get something worth chewing on.

I'll just stick to my romance anime

This is a hard bullet for me to dodge, given how much I enjoyed things like Escaflowne, Overlord and (in a lesser capacity) Log Horizon. More recently, though, I repeatedly infect myself with the "reincarnated as a ________" strain of the isekai virus.

Funny story. I occasionally watch anime with a friend and she has a weird sort of "face blindness" for anime where she doesn't see animation.

No kidding. She can not tell the quality difference in animation between say, any of these isekai's, and something like jujutsu kaisen, or demon slayer. If I point out to her that "in jujutsu they literally animates thousands of frames of every water droplet moving in that 10 second fight scene, but in that isekai they literallly just drew a single picture and had it vibrate on screen with a sound effect", she has to study it seriously to be able to tell.

Mind blown moment. Turns out there are a lot of people who watch anime that can't tell what's animated and what's not.

Granted it's definitely not on the same level as the first 3 seasons but I always found the hate way overblown

Not only is it not made up, but there are like a million variations of "dude is summoned to another world, kingdom that did the summoning thinks he's a loser and lets him go(either with hush money and/or attempts to quietly kill him outside of a town), and it is later revealed that he is or becomes super OP in some way".

This particular show/story focuses a lot on food.

Or like in Konosuba when the bad things happen its fucking hilarious.

The premise sounds dumb but it's actually quite intriguing, I almost wish they did more with it.

Basically the main character is in a typical medieval fantasy world but has the ability to use modern day grocery shopping summoned instantly out of thin air. Moreover, every item he can find in a japanese supermarket is considered some ultra rare, highly valuable item.

It also helps that said items imbue the denizens of that world with temporary buffs. It's like everything he makes becomes a Heroes Feast from Dungeons and Dragons.

I think advertisers should spend a year remaking classic commercials in intentionally cheap yet over the top anime style.

Like imagine the old Mentos penstripe suit commercial, except:

*guy lies down on the bench while the painter freaks out exaggeratedly*
*guy realizes his mistake, jumps up, stomps angrily, throws his toupee on the ground and kicks it away*
*remembers the Mentos; eats a Mentos*
*the background turns Sailor Moon-esque and the art style and frame rate are inexplicably much better*
*he strains, with the sharp-toothed smile*
*his hair regrows and turns gold*
*his suit turns pure white and his muscles bulge*
*the world returns to normal and all the women gasp while all the men's jaws drop*
*thumbs up at the camera, freeze frame*

Recent one in memory, if you're looking for something that doesn't take itself seriously, is Let This Grieving Soul Retire. You'll know that nothing bad will happen because the MC will just bs his way out of any situation.

Slice of Life anime are definitely fun breaks to take at times. Silver Spoon and K-On are the first things to jump out at me there, along with the classic Azumanga Daioh.

Bocchi the Rock is another fun one but that one has a bit more stress because the protagonist has social anxiety.

Komi Can't Communicate is kind of a maybe there too. It fits the mood but verges on harem territory.

I dunno if they already made an adaptation of it, but there's one where the guy just wants to be a blacksmith, and lives out in the woods. But because he received his ability from the god of that world others think of him as "The Hands of God" and the gear he makes is legendary in quality. Even without entering the world he brings about peace between humans and demons because the hero for each side recognizes that both sides have swords from the same smith and they'd fight to a stalemate.

But, being an isekai, he ends up with a harem of girls. So it's a wish fulfillment story that presents itself as a 'slow life' story.
