Most curious to see how the confirmations go for his most depraved picks. GOP can't have a ton of senators vote the other way if a lot of these will be all dems against.

Somebody can do a better intro, don't have the time but Hedgseth for defense secretary would be bad.

Basically Pete is a "tough man" with vague qualifications and when he was musing who he wanted for secretary of defense he last saw Pete on Fox as he's an anchor there.

Lets hope these senators have a strong enough conviction than to give a Fox News host the nuclear codes. Meaning I think in some cases Trump and Hedgseth alone will have em.

I assume you want the new Defense secretary to be in place before the transition, to make it as smooth as possible.

Up until he left Fox to pursue this nomination he was showing up to work drunk. Maybe because hes an alcoholic, maybe because he was trying to deal with nerves from being on television.

But hes gotta be ready to handle a military crisis 24 hours a day. Hes literally going to get people killed.

And Im not aware of any blackout drunks being the Secretary of Defense which was clearly the point of what I said.

He was in the ANG for 20 years and couldnt even make O5. That puts him in the lowest 10%. He is not an accomplished officer.

I expect confirmation but itll be after an entire day of hearing perfectly good (and maybe even necessary in the pursuit of national security) reasons for him not to be confirmed.

It's treated as a basic continuity of government thing, but pretty much none of these people will not be confirmed before the 20th.

So you do have a bit of a period where you have acting people or holdovers. And Trump is furious about that basic reality.

You notify the Senate committee in question so the chairman can have the required background checks performed. Typically an incoming president gets a budget of several million for the transition with the only stipulation being that those hired for the transition pass background checks.

For the record only Donald Trump has ever just fucked off and not done a transition.

As an active serving member I am terrified of the possibility of this guy being confirmed. Already terrified of a trump presidency. And terrified of the guy that was allegedly selected to be the Secretary of the Navy.
