I got this coin at work and decided to grab it. It's apparently a well known misprint on the 2023 coin. I was trying to find a value for it but I'm seeing thousands of dollars, which I doubt is accurate just because I don't have that kind of luck.

That looks like a normal Jovita Idar quarter. It is one of my favorite designs ever because of how unusual it looks and the presence of really expansive fields(blank areas).
Unless I am missing something.

There is a variety of this quarter where the IN GOD WE TRUST wording looks like IN COD WE TRUST which may have some value like ten bucks. Maybe I can't do any actual research now but could later.

Is that being sold by the actual mint? I heard the story about people taking advantage of the mints selling dollar coins at face value, but that is insanely overpriced. Almost a 100% markup

The other kind of unusual looking quarters are Dr. Pauli Murray and Bessie Coleman.

Yes this is normal. The fact it confuses so many people is also another reason I like it.

I think the whole "5 new quarters every year" is getting kind of old.

50 State Quarters? OK, that was neat. And then add in the Territories, sure. Then they had the America the Beautiful Quarters. Wait, didn't we just do a quarter for every state and territory? Now the American Women quarters, most of whom I've never heard of before (seriously, where's the Grace Hopper quarter?), and the next set, after the Semiquincentennial set next year, will be youth sports? What the hell even is that?

Otherwise no one would use quarters, they are really the only useful coin anyway

We had the washington quarter with the eagle from 1932-1998. I'm fine with the quarter being the throw shit at the wall coin.

Like one of the people appearing in 2025 is a disability activist who lived 1987-2020. That to me is neat as all hell because I lived during her time and she is on a circulation coin

Indeed. Very little of value would be lost if every coin smaller than quarters were abolished.

Only if everything gets rounded down in price rather than rounded up.

That was the whole reason why we couldn't phase out pennies, in spite of them literally costing more to make than they're actually worth. Nobody wanted to round up to the nearest nickel.
