Yes, one theory I heard is they're holding up the funds since there's some research specifically for African Americans, for example, and they want to go through each and every one to kill things like that.

No according to the memo....yet.

Trust me, if they do the whole system collapses. Hospitals rely on the money they get from the government to stay in business. If pauses happen they're fucked ( I know as I audit them)

Not to mention the people ( like yourself) who is the money to live on.

I guess those people spent all the grant money.

I was hoping that everything he was saying was just bluster, but it is now horrifingly true that he will do everything possible in Project 2025 to the letter. Terrified is not how I'd begin to describe it.

(Voted against Trump in all 3 elections; even voted Biden in the 2024 primary, despite my disappointment in how he was handling Gaza, because I know he was probably the best chance to stop Trump. That was my primary concern.)

I really hope Trump doesnt come after social security/disability. I live with a disabled relative who relies entirely on it, and I wouldnt be able to pay for all their expenses as well as my own and my wifes.

That's not what this Manchurian Candidate's job is.

If my partners Medicaid coverage or her application for long term disability are affected we are so screwed. Not only financially but a years work of holding her back from the brink of suicidal depression would be undone just as things are starting to come together.

Trump and the GOP considers Medicare as nothing but Obamacare now. It's definitely getting axed at some point.

I was so discouraged to read this earlier this morning. The President is not permitted to halt these funds that are authorized by laws passed by Congress. But of course no one in the government is ever going to hold him accountable. Voters had a chance, but failed.

This is going to hurt so many people. The vulnerable in our society count on these funds to live. I am not exaggerating. I have been helping people get government services as part of my job for 16 years, and I have seen it first hand. If this unheard of and illegal action is not stopped, people are going to die.

On a personal note, it is very possible that this course of action costs me my job. My wife works at the same non-profit, mostly funded by federal grants written into laws that have been in force for decades. It is probably going to pretty devastating for our family. And, frankly, for the clients we serve.

And the media is either going to spin this as a good thing and Trumps voterbase is going to treat this as a net positive as they lose everything.

The fun part is not even hearing the slightest amount of pushback about this when Trump is just signing EOs about shit the President isn't able to do?

As a college administrator I can answer this.

This will crush colleges 50%-70% of college students get some kind of federal aid. This would mean a ton of college kids would have to drop out, it also would mean a lot of college staff (myself included) might be out of a job.

The dominions do not stop if a whole generation of American kids dont go to college thats a body blow to the work force at the same time that Trump is limiting immigration, so companies leave the US because they cant fill jobs here, which means even less job options for everyone, the economy will crashes.

This could be apocalyptic

But Kamala didnt earn our votes.
