I think they made a JP only release for the switch.

Dunno why anyone would prefer the old style though when the Daybreak engine is fantastic.

Schera is basically nothing compared to Shirley

I'm not sure if I should be impressed or scared i knew exactly where they were demo'ing the overworld.

Honestly I think I like the visuals of the original game a lot more. Something about the original graphics felt nice and warm, like if you were playing old school grandia

There's more to the game than just the visuals though. They're incorporating a lot of improvements made since the start of the Trails series. While the story can be a sine wave at times, the quality of the gameplay has generally only gone up.

This looks really cool, but Im still only halfway through the Trails games so its hard to justify doubling back anytime soon.

That looks nice. I played Trails in the Sky 1 and 2 and I did like them, but as much as I wanted to get into the series it hasn't really gripped me the way Ys has.

Wait gungho? Aren't they the ones from that shoddy Grandia 2 port on switch? Their track record hasn't seemed good to me so far (I was just happy to finally try Grandia 2 so I was willing to bear with it)

Don't know much about them otherwise.

Azure is chibi pixel art. We don't see her in high definition 3D until CS3 where she's 18.

Yeah gung-ho did the grandia remasters and the soon to be releases of Lunar Star Story/Lunar 2

I never did beat the original. Probably had like 2 hours left of story if that. I was in the final chapter. I didn't realize the last time I played it would actually be my last time playing it. Just never started it back up for some reason. Guess other games caught my attention or there was a little burnout towards the end. Maybe I'll restart with the remake since it's been 2-4 years since I've played it.

Edit: I do hope they chill out on the missables though lol.

Im so excited for this. The original battle theme is way superior to this remixed one, imo. I also hope they fixed it so that crafts arent completely and utterly worthless.

Also, wow at no transitions when entering a village.

I like the new music but I still hope there's an option to toggle it.

The whole series up until Daybreak could use a remake with the new engine tbh. I hate the run animation in CS3 to Reverie.

My thought was that as far as remakes go, FC & SC could have been a single game, The 3rd it's standalone remake, and the Crossbell games as one. Crossbell should be especially easy given a good portion of those games were already remade in Cold Steel and Reverie.

If they were going to remake every game I'm sure they'd come up with something better than Daybreak by the time they get to CS

The 3D gameplay looks kind of generic to me. Prefer the sprites.

The problem with saying it's generic is like.... How many JRPGs are still doing it like this? Basically just Dragon Quest.

from the crafts it looks like they tuned them up to be more than just doing damage which is great. The gameplay of the originals was a little stale when I replayed them last summer.

They didnt do damage in the originals though. They also caused crazy delay for the user. Doing damage comparable to arts would be a big improvement alone.

Came to this realization while replaying most of the Pokemon games a while back. As an example, while Fire Red looks MUCH better, and is much better mechanically than base Red, it also takes like 8x as long to get anywhere or do anything.

Even just looking at the trailer, a snappy 1 second battle move is now a drawn-out 8 second affair. Cumulatively over the course of the whole game, that's a lot of added sitting-around-doing-nothing time.

There's always the skip animation button, which, isn't actually a thing in the original original. And the trailer itself is deliberately playing at 1x. There's no reason to believe the release won't have fast forward.

what are you talking about in the video they quite literally show the same crafts doing damage in the original and the remake except in the remake it looks like they have added effects such as status effects or stat debuffs

By didnt do damage I meant the damage they did was so pitiful they were not worth using. The clip of Flicker from the original did 135. The Remake one did 438. The crafts in the original also had status effects attached to them but they were so crap damage wise and caused so much delay you just turn everyone into an arts user. I think the only craft worth using was Dual Fang with Joshua because it hit twice until Richard in Sky 3 came with busted crafts.

Richard, Agate, and Mueller all had pretty good crafts.

Oh, this is going to be great. Im excited for Daybreak 2, but a lot of people say it sort of sucks?? I dont know, people hate on everything now.

I only played the FC so I am very interested in this. Just crazy how huge this series is, I never know where to actually start.

But I got Metaphor I still need to beat.

I heard it wasn't so much that it sucks it just not as good as 1.

I'm slowly slipping behind in the series as too many good games are releasing. I still haven't played Reverie.

Reverie is the longest game in the series. If you start now you can probably finish it and Daybreak 1 before Daybreak 2 NA release.

I'm just in the second half of Fantasian, I think I need to prioritize Reverie after it if I'm going to maintain the series.

Looks great. Hope this gets a dub and that they can get back most of the cast. I know some were already recast, but at least get back the recasts from the more recent games (like Matt Mercer instead of Troy Baker for Olivier, etc)

I'm fairly sure that was the intention, but they needed to put it out to make money or something (like what happened with Cold Steel 3 and 4).

This. I thought they said the original FC and SC were supposed to be one game. So it seems odd that they would choose to repeat that mistake.

I know it was the intention for the original but the game got too big. I think I was at 45 hours for the original FC on steam

I just hope Durante is still working on the PC version. His ports of the Trails games has been stellar.
