I honestly kinda loved Civilization Beyond Earth. Yeah, it's not Alpha Centauri, but it was a nice refinement of Civ V. If it had gotten the expansions that were obviously planned I think it would be far better regarded.

In liked it. Its just Space Civ 5, and probably should have been DLC, but it was good.

I don't know if this is still the popular opinion, but I know Final Fantasy XIII used to get a lot of flak. Nevertheless, of the three main series FFs I've seriously played (along with VII and X), it remains the only one I enjoyed enough to actually finish~

It would have worked better as a non open-world spinoff. I really enjoyed it but when you're out in Steelport there's literally nothing to do, and the superpowers make vehicles and weapons pointless.

Recently I've been seeing it more highly regarded by those who've played it. Just not the sequels. I had a lot of fun with it though. I liked the playable character selection and once you got used to the gameplay, it was pretty fun. Just needs more tracks and no more fucking control stick spinning sections. And yeah, the story mode was way too hard too early on.

Man, I remember playing Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity quite a few years ago. Still remember the blister the analog stick gave me for trying to do the rotation too fast much too often on the grind-rails. For as much as I played it, I enjoyed it despite my overzealous mishap there.

One of my personal favorites of the past has got to be: Gotcha Force

Decent couch multiplayer. "Robot" collector amongst other gameplay elements. Apparently didn't rate well, but I know I played it a lot back then, occasionally came back to it for nostalgia's sake over the years.

Phantasy Star Online Episode III: C.A.R.D. Revolution

I've put countless of hours on it. It's like dungeon dice monsters from Yu-Gi-Oh but better while a bit unbalanced but you can play it balanced and it's fun.

Unknown 9 Awakening. It barely sold any copies, and all the youtubers made fun of it. I got it for free from buying an AMD GPU, and I wasn't even going to play it due to all the negativity it received. However, I had some extra time before the next steam sale, so I gave it a try and enjoyed it. It's basically like a Tomb Raider game except you get psychic powers instead of guns.

I loved Days Gone, seems it wasnt that popular. The characters weren't all that likable and the story wasnt great, but it was so much fun to play!

I think Phantom Doctrine is an incredible espionage game that flopped and is forgotten because people inevitably compared it to X-Com (which it looks like) when it is a completely different style of game.

Similar to Alpha Protocol but at least some other people like it.

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix is my favorite game.

Holding preference for this game is the FGC equivalent to preferring that Han Solo not shoot first. To turning v-sync off and setting motion blur on max.

Too many, RE3make jumps out as a game that got far too much criticism for not adapting everything from the original version. I loved it, I thought it was a ton of fun to replay too. It coming out at near the start of COVID kind of gave it a unique atmosphere in my mind too.

Another Gotcha Force fan discovered. Goddamn, it's been years. Gotcha Force was one of my favorite games, I've probably spent 600+ dollars rebuying the discs from how much I'd wear them out.

People saying FF8 are insane, lol. Its like saying your favourite obscure movie is Donnie Darko. I think more people talk shit about it these days in FF discussions but it is very popular.

I like Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers a good deal. Its more obscure than disliked but it has a mediocre (but not awful) Metacritic score for the 3DS version.

Armored Core: Last Raven is one of my favourite videogames and it has an embarrassing 59 on Metacritic. The game is well-liked but also sort of feared among AC oldheads since its ball-bustingly hard. If you play it without importing data (as most critics probably did) you're fucked unless you know exactly what you're doing and are very good at the game. Because of that a lot of people don't feel the need to build up to playing it.

I don't think its something where a lot of people hate this game, but more so since it was a og xbox exclusive alongside halo 2 being THE killer app for the console gamers at large doesn't even know this game exists.

For those that had a og xbox and played a lot of it back then I rarely if ever seen anyone say they actually dislike this game if they played it. It was pretty unique with that 3rd person melee and either 3rd or 1st person shooting blend for it's time.

*I think my vote for this topic would be the twin stick shooter monster madness on the xbox 360. I admit its a pretty jank game and it definitely deserved it's mid to low scores, but me, my bro and my 2 nephews all had fun beating this game and suffering the jank together.*

Streets of rage 3 and mega man x6. I think both games get a fair amount of shit for being unfairly difficult, but to me that made both games that much more enjoyable than their predecessors. Sor2 is goated but 3 felt like an upgrade in everyday that mattered

Streets of rage 3 unfortunately failed at the one main thing that made the 1st 2 games famous (especially part 2)....it's music.

I do agree the actual gameplay part is better in everyway (I feel the same for golden axe 3 compared to the first 2 games on the genesis), but even I can't get into streets of rage 3's music like that. Even has a 11 year old in 1994 I was all like "what happen to the music?", lol. I do like that shinobi reference theme though.
