I heard Greece is nice, but the people and economy are fucked up? >_> Like didn't their economy nearly collapse 5+ years ago because the retired people were being too greedy or something? I forget the details
Economy isn't brilliant, but the people are great. Very hospitable and genuinely friendly.

Not the... I guess you could say "fake friendly" that we have here in America, no one goes out of their way to talk to you, but when they do it's pleasant.
The economy ain't great, but it's not like I'm rolling in dough here. I'm broke as hell already.

Alright, that's good to hear then. Everyone is an individual after all and shouldn't be generalized.

But what am I thinking of from years ago with their economy? I know for a hot minute, the country was in dire straits over something >_>

Their economy completely collapsed and they were essentially bailed out by Germany.

They have a problem in that their tax system is riddled with loopholes.

Some tourists may get frightened of draconian punishments in Singapore due to the Michael Fay incident back in the 1990s, but as long as one isnt committing any crimes, its a really free and happy place to visit (or live in, in my case).

Eh, I fundamentally disagree with that mindset. "If you don't commit any crimes, you have nothing to worry about!" is up there with "if you have nothing to hide, then surveillance shouldn't bother you!" But it doesn't sound like there's much margin for error plus some laws from what I hear are really draconian, like things that would get you a slap on the wrist here, could land you in jail for months there. Do they still have the death penalty?

It's why, as lovely as it might be, I have no plans to go to Singapore. I'm no criminal, but it doesn't sound like they accept "oopsies" there. >_>

A few.

Been to America - shithole, third world country let's be honest.

Malta was fantastic, lovely island, lovely people.

France - fine, if you stay out of Paris. I jest, Paris is fine it's just basically like England and London, different species of people tbh.

Italy - drive like absolute fucking maniacs, but its a nice place.

Poland - some lovely people, very religious country though, Krakow is a cultural hotpot for tourists.

Belgium - also nice.

Netherlands - rude, cyclists are like Conservative Americans in Trucks, will run you over and tell you its your fault, bunch of dickheads. Free tits in the red light district though, equal opportunities employer I tell you, they have little side alleys where you can get disabled prostitutes and stuff, and you can light some weed up and have fun whilst you're at it. Their cyclists should use the prozzies and partake in the weed to chill the fuck out tbh.

Greece - very passionate people, lovely place, went when it was pissing down with rain which ruined it a bit.

The Gran Canaries - proper tourist hotspot thesedays, nice little spot for the sun really.

St Lucia (Caribbean) and Barbados - stunning places tbf, mind you do get some areas of awful poverty - but this was decades ago, so might have changed.

Ireland - expensive for what it is, wouldn't recommend it, if you're American, please do go and tell them that you're Irish, it's fucking funny to watch them eviscerate the shit out of you for being a moron.

I was in Straussberg, France and a bit around it while I was in Germany, but didn't get to see Paris either in France. Definitely want to see that city too I heard it's kinda dirty though lol

The french accent is so fucking beautiful! I can't go into anymore detail on my feelings cuz it might spill over into hornyposting territory though.

I voted 1. I've 'been' to Canada but I don't think it should count because I was a really little kid when that happened, I barely remember it, and for all I know it was New Jersey, and my family just said it was Canada, I would have no way of telling the different.

But I'm working to get my passport, so I can start seeing the rest of the world, time to start auditioning some other countries, USA sucks.

There are certain things about Singapore that might scare people off. For example, littering, if found out, would constitute a fine. Jaywalking is technically a crime, but the law enforcers close one eye if traffic isnt busy. Chewing gum is technically illegal, but this is another close one eye case, as long as you arent sticking it under seats or on walls etc.

Bribery and corruption are serious crimes and can constitute a prison sentence, and it is very easy to get found out in Singapore.

The biggest no-no for regular people is drugs though. Smuggling drugs over 10mg is an automatic death sentence.

And of course, murder, sexual assault, molestation etc. are crimes, just like in any other country.

Prostitution is legal in a town known as Geylang. Honestly, this is quite a stain on Singapores reputation, in my opinion, but Singapores government considers it a necessary vice lingering from the old days.

I could just see myself forgetting and doing those smaller things like jaywalking or chewing gum. But it looks like the worst normal people have to worry about is fines, correct? Drug smuggling, murder etc are crimes everywhere and shouldn't be an issue for normalfolk so I shouldn't worry about those.

OK, maybe I could try and visit Singapore someday after all but I'll have to do a lot of reading beforehand lol

Thats right :) . As long as one is not committing major crimes like drug smuggling, all forms of assault, molestation, stealing, vandalism etc., the most that one will get is a fine (which is Singapores version of a slap on the wrist).

Having lived here all my life, I frequently jaywalk and chew gum, and Ive never gotten in trouble with the law :)

I forgot to mention that eating and drinking on public transport would get you a fine too, but Ive done that (drinking water) too >_>

EDIT: Of course, dont do that stuff in front of cops. That would be bad lol.
