First time I tried to play it around 2019 I found myself overwhelmed but now I can't stop. Oh I'll take these materials to build that road oh I'll do this delivery while I'm at it and I'm zigzagging around the map on my bike playing postman neglecting anything I can't get to on my bike and it's some of the most engaging time I've had with a game in ages.

Death Stranding is such a great game. But you have to be in the right headspace for it or I can see it just frustrating the fuck or making someone feel impatient if they were just trying to rush the story.

Honestly the game is great to just use your favorite form of getting inebriated and just vibin in the world deliverin' and picking up shit.

Impossible for me to recommend to everyone, but legit one of my favorite games ever. I've replayed it twice and still have urges to come back to complete the roads/get 5 stars with everyone.

I tried playing this twice. I couldnt get past certain things in the beginning from a Im not dealing with this shit sort of attitude. Felt like a chore. But I love MG so I keep trying

The game loves to interrupt you with little cutscenes and stuff constantly. I just had three prompts telling me I could customise my backpack one after the other.

Rarely was I more proud than when I made my ridiculous zipline system over an entire mountain range. Took hours, blood, sweat, tears. Moments like that -- not building some highway for 800 klicks -- are what make me want to replay.

I finished my playthrough this past weekend. I enjoyed it a good bit, but wound up dropping "the grind" partway through and stuck mostly to the main story (and deliveries that were on the way for that). Partially that was because I wanted to finish it before Monster Hunter came out.

The core loop has a lot of what I'd call mundane appeal? Like it's mostly simple and routine but still manages to be interesting to do. But it's definitely a wonky game and the start where you have very little capability bogs things down a lot.

It's a fantastic game.

It's not for everyone, but for those who appreciate it, it's one of the most unique and enjoyable games around.

The first playthrough I was meh to the story, the second time I enjoyed how *MAJOR SPOILERS* little I learned about the actual world or universe. The game was clearly character stories in a weird world with every character guessing, incorrectly I suspect, what the Death Stranding actually is. I think it's some of the weirdest shit Hideo has ever done.

I hope Death Stranding 2 seems to be exploring more into how this world works, and now that we're less focused on saving the inter-personal relationships in Sam's life, we might tackle what the actual end of the world stuff is all about in more details. I also hope it's as bonkers.

I'm just really not a fan of how Kojima writes massive gimmick characters then has to write really long exposition dump on why they are the way they are.

I loved my time with the game. Definitely need to be in a particular frame of mind to get into it, but if you do, it is truly one of a kind.

Yeah nearly all of the main story stuff so far has been terrible. I like all the side writing. The emails and interviews and stuff. But whenever Amelie appears and starts guffing her nonsense I get so turned off.

Omg the fucking mads mikkelsen BB memories. So tedious. And they repeat! At least I can comfortably skip them now. And the game does have the grace to show me the skip prompt when it's a repeat.

I wish there were more games that capture the same feeling that the loop of do delivery>loot mule camp>build roads>do delivery does

Very unique game that tickles a very specfic itch if you're into that kinda thing

Almost.

Range and bandwidth limitations are restrictive, plus there's a handful of timed deliveries that are just too large to take via Zipline

But otherwise yes. Dropping some ziplines on the elder mountain more or less trivializes the region

I always thought it looked pretty fun for the same reason Snowrunner is fun. I just never got around to playing it

Fun fact: I've found I love Snowrunner too after trying it on PS+ lol.

I got hooked on Snowrunner during the pandemic. It was my zen game
