I haven't spent anything today, but my parents decided they wanted to order a pizza instead of making one of the frozen ones we have in the freezer.

Organized protest against Musk/Trump and the companies who have supported them by hitting them in the economy.

No, but i did buy what I would have today yesterday. I don't think it'll mean much to just shift purchases around but I did so anyways

I did my grocery shopping yesterday, as Ive been putting it off all month and my pantry was getting a bit too bare. Not planning on spending anything over the entire weekend if at all possible though.

What even is the point of a complete boycott for one day? As far as I understand boycotts are supposed to be targeted over a period of time that puts so much pressure on the bottom line of a single entity that they are forced to change the way they do business.

I truly believe that boycotts DO work, I just don't see what a single day over the entire economy is supposed to actually do.

I bought lunch from a local hot dog shop and alcohol from a local alcohol chain.

Its supposed to be a warning shot across the bow that we as the common rabble can cause a lot worse economic harm to these megacorporations and their political puppets if they continue to ignore what the American people want.

My understanding is that today is kind of a temperature check for future boycotts, including week-long ones targeted at specific retailers such as Wal-Mart, Target, and Amazon.

Yes. I'm having people over tomorrow and wouldn't have had any food for them if I didn't buy anything today.

Hmm ok... If you ask me, I think we're past warning shot though and we should be at mag dump into center of mass. I don't disagree with a good organized boycott, I specifically don't have any social media accounts, haven't spent a cent on Amazon in half a decade, avoid truly gross corps like Nestle...

No but it has fuck all to do with these pointless "don't buy stuff on this day" stuff. It has to do with I legit never spend money on a Friday. It's a normal workday.

I grocery shop on Mondays on my day off and typically that is the only time I ever spend any money except my monthly bills that get auto paid on the 1st.

Seriously I hardly spend money outside required bills. I spent $75 in all of 2023 outside required bills. In 2024 it was like $750. I did spend some decent money starting 2025 in January with a tv and AVR upgrade but that was super rare for me.

One day means nothing. Let me know when it's at least a week and I'll join in, even though veeeeeery few people would make sacrifices that would make an actual impact. Americans are too spoiled.

I only bought something directly from a Chinese company and paid some bills. I haven't spent a dime on anything else.

Mom did borrow my car earlier, and she put gas in it. Besides that, I don't think any in my household spent anything today.

I bought a ticket to see Stereolab in concert this fall, they went on sale this morning. That's all though.

I did grocery shopping but at a locally owned store instead of the Albertsons or Kroger owned store. Friday is the only day I can do my grocery shopping.

A 1 day boycott just means people the buy the items the next day. Most businesses are not going to care about a single day if the overall food the quarter is still good.

Ultimately boycotts shouldn't end until demands are meant. All these internet "let's not buy from x today or this week" are just people doing performative actions to feel better

I plan to spend money tonight but only at small local establishments. Nothing corporate.
