Now China will be a superpower with an uncooperative, unhinged USA

Britain was pretty objectively horrific as a superpower, basically every location they colonized experienced multiple genocides or famines as a result of either incompetence or intentional evil by the Brits, and the standards of living and life expectancy for every place they ruled improved in the decades after they were booted out with the exceptions of locales ravaged by civil war and/or AIDS.

Don't let recency bias confuse you, France and Britain were horrible colonial powers. The US had to reel them in because the Soviets were actually justified when they called out their horrific practices. We complain about Israel but it's a drop in the bucket compared to what France was doing in Algeria.

I have more faith in China as a superpower than either USA or Briton

The USA was the leader of the free world. This implies that there is an unfree world.

As it turns out Latin America, Africa and Asia are poor and exploited. Europe and the USA have gotten rich at their expense. When one of those nations would get ahead, usually by electing a socialist leader the USA was remove them and install a dictator. Keep in mind that Saddam was one such person. The reason why the americans hate Iran is because they tried to install a puppet there too and they had a revolution and created their own goverment.

China is different. They don't colonize nations, they build them up and try to build connections with them. I expect many new powers rising in a china lead world.

I get the 'Anyone but the US' sentiment though.

On one hand, the Britain of today having that status would hardly be the worst possible outcome.

On the other, there's no guarantee that if they had kept that status all this time, they wouldn't be very different from how they are today (including the possibility that they remain very much like their historic selves).

I think it is pretty naive that every single support China is giving is from the goodness of their hearts and there's not some really shady catch that will haunt countries in the long run. Especially with the amount of they did and how desperate they are to take Taiwan.

Every single geopolitical superpower will do this. France, Britain, USA, Russia or China, they will always look for them to still maintain at the top.
