Kinda crazy they haven't done anything with that franchise in forever. I guess they fould be making something.

Seems strange that once they got all the SC2 stuff out, they kinda left it to die.

Used to love Blizzcon when playing WoW, but Blizzard haven't really been hitting too much in recent years.

I've always also wanted World of Diablo. I know people say it would be too similar to World of Warcraft, but the 2 worlds are very different

I stopped playing cause I don't have a working gaming pc anymore. But supposedly the most recent expansion is pretty good. And they did something interesting. They announced 3 expansions at the same time (the first of which is now the current one out) with a connected story across all 3. And the last one might be the end of WoW. Its called The Last Titan and they might be ending the first WoW story, and making WoW 2

For many, many years my personal fan theory was that the humans who got stuck on the other side of the dark portal after the events of WC2 would go on to become Terrans and that is what would have connected WC to SC, but AFAIK lore since then has made that theory impossible.

Last one when they dropped all the WoW xpacs was great, and the first xpac so far has been really good as well.

In the original Starcraft manual, it actually outright says that Terrans are descended from Earth humans. They were a group of people who left Earth for some reason and got lost, then found the place where Starcraft takes place. And they have no contact with Earth so they took on a new culture

If its like Everquest 2, it will have a big event and a massive time gap to separate the 2 games, and make the world different. Everquest 2 was set 500 years after the original. And there was some apocalyptic event sometime during the gap period. I always assumed if WoW 2 happens, something similar will be done

Neat! Blizzard would probably still say "Earth" isn't "Azeroth" but I can keep my wild fan theory alive for a bit longer.

I remembwr hearing about their WoW grand plan. Curious if it pans out. We've seen expansions drastically change in the middle of them, with sweeping changes in patches.

I know Metzen was their main writing force in the good old days, its nice to see him back and give a better direction for the story.

I stopped a Legion and the next few expansions didn't sound great. Sounds like it eventually got to a better state from Dragonflight onwards.

Still crazy that game has been going for over 20 years now.....

There are some games they should announce, but won't. First off, start to built towards the end of WoW. I get why they want to keep it going, but the story is close to complete. They could have the entire thing finished in 4-5 expansions if they wanted.

Secondly announce Warcraft 4, and Starcraft 3. I would get rid of Warcraft Rumble and replace it with Footmen Frenzy IOS since they technically own the rights to that custom map due to their BS Warcraft 3 ownership policy. Also a reboot of Heroes of the Storm.

If they can make something with a similar feel to vanilla Ill resub

Like give me a huge magical world to get lost in, force me to befriend strangers to finish group quests, let me feel a sense of genuine accomplishment when I upgrade an item

Hardcore gives me similar vibes but its still a game thats been solved for 21 years. Having everything be a mystery again where not everyone knows everything there is to know about the game would be so cool. Obviously it wouldnt last forever but would like to be part of it.

I read the original manual many many times because I was super into StarCraft as a kid.

The original Terrans didn't leave Earth on their own volition. They're all prisoners and rejects of society which were acquired by a scientist to be part of his colonisation project.

The navigation computer malfunctioned during the long trip and they got sent way off course from their intended destination.

I get what you mean. When I first played WoW back in Vanilla, holy crap was it so overwhelming and so easy to immerse yourself into it.

The problem is, with data miners, websites like mmo-champion (is that still a thing?) that essentially reveals every little thing, the mystery would be gone quickly, if there even is any before the game launches. WoW nerds are a different breed with getting all that info, I used to be one of them.

And I'd fear they'd streamline a lot of the systems even further. They "dumbed" down a lot of gameplay mechanics, ability bloat etc when i was playing, can only imagine they have kept up doing that with each new expansion or major patch.

I remember when they did the damage crunch all those years ago. Did they ever do that again? I can see the numbers going up and up and rhem having to do the damage crunch again

They did a level crunch. I don't remember what expansion it happened in. But I think max level went back to 50 or 60

I mean, you're never going to get that lightning in a bottle again. Games are just to different now and you're older as well. Hell, even during vanilla you already had sites like thottbot and allakhazam (and maybe early wowhead) popping up that took away any sort of "mystery."

The game is far more complex now than it was when it first released. Things like C'Thun and Nax weren't difficult because of mechanics, it was simply because they had a lot of health and hit like fucking trucks.

I don't think you will ever get to experience that again. Too many people want the path of least resistance, want cookie cutter builds made for them and want every content creator with an annoying thumbnail to show them where the next quest/item/farming location is.

Even with Hardcore WoW's release, people ran right to Questie so they knew exactly where to go, removing a large part of what they claimed to want to get back with HC.

While I believe you can replicate what you want in a solo experience, doing so in an MMO is likely not going to happen.

FFXI was for me what WoW was for other people here. And as much as I hold dear the memories of struggle and discovery in a dangerous world, it's not the sort of game I can see myself playing these days. I just don't have the time.

On the topic of bringing the con back...I imagine now that they got bought again, MS is holding the reins more tightly and forcing them to make stuff. So they'll probably have more actual content to announce than when they only had WoW running and maybe some Diablo 4 to talk about.

Announce Starcraft 3. Bring back those magical days of the SC2 beta and early casters.

I don't think it's a good idea to announce Warcraft 4 at the same time though. Warcraft 3 and brood war really didn't cannibalize each other that much, but I'm not sure if gamers have much time or patience for two RTS at once.
