BlackScythe0 posted... It's a real question on how many people played tactics ogre vs fft. I tried LUCT on the PSP and had a nightmare of a time with it. I gave TO:R a shot when I heard it was possibly going to fix some of the issues I had with LUCT, and I'm glad I did; I think TO:R narrowly edges out FFT as my favorite at this point. Job classes are much better balanced - I love that even in late-game an Archer still has some viability - the story and characters feel better fleshed-out, and I vastly prefer TO:R's side content. The only thing I have against TO:R is the missables. Some of that shit is just insane. I lost the motivation to finish the game when I realized that I missed out on recruiting the last of Cistina's sisters because I didn't visit a certain city during a narrow window between missions when it was raining. I know the game has like a postgame timewarp feature to let you go back and redo things, but still, those kinds of needlessly convoluted missables really get under my skin. I've been meaning to go back to it for awhile now. I'm torn because I hate jumping back into a late-game playthrough after spending so much time away, but I also dread the thought of doing certain events again, like recruiting Cressida. --- Simple questions deserve long-winded answers that no one will bother to read. ... I know TO:R fixed and made other problems. I know original Tactics Ogre was a actually grind fest. I use the word training, but the way you had to manipulate the system to level up new soldiers from level 1 was beyond silly. Essentially you would go into a "practice" have a cockatrice in your party petrify a high level person and just have your scrubs throw stones at them. I got the PSP version and that was just tedious and annoying too I know the story, I am over it. I am too afraid to try TO:R it's a great story. But why are there level caps and specific slow ways to beat battles. If ppl want to overlevel let them! Ha --- Today's the same as ever. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Ha My biggest and ultimately fatal issue with LUCT was that I got locked in an unwinnable situation where I was painfully underleveled and dealing single-digit damage to enemies, and the random encounters available were so ridiculously overpowered that I couldn't do any grinding (IIRC it was the first time you battle Xaebos, and I only remember that because he's one ugly son of a bitch). At this point I can't remember if LUCT had a training option like TO:R has, so I might've missed out on that. In theory I wouldn't like a level cap, but in the case of TO:R it actually helped a lot because it gave me a constant baseline of how strong I needed to be for the next fight. --- Simple questions deserve long-winded answers that no one will bother to read. ...
