How would you personally rank the Final Fantasy games, from best to worst?

I don't know if I have the brain power right now to actually put them in an order, but with numbered games only I could do tiers.

S. 9, 5, 14
A. 6, 7, 4
B. 10, 12, 8
C. 1, 13
D. 15, 3, 2.

I never played 11 and I haven't finished 16 year, need to get back to it.

I'll also do tiers cause fuck it it's easier:

S: VI, IX, Tactics WotL
A: IV, V, X, XII, XIV
B: VII, XVI
C: I, II, VIII, XI, XV
D: III

4 > 8 > 7 > 6 > 9 > 5 > 3 > 1 > TA > 2

One day I'm going to play X, X-2, XII, XIII, XIII-2, XIII-3 and XV.

And maaaaaaybe XVI.

S - VIII > X > XII
A - VII > IX
B - XIII > X-2 > World
C - V > Type 0 > III > II > I Crystal Chronicles > VI
D - XV > IV

6 = Tactics > 9 > 7 > 5

8 > 9 > 6 > 7 > 4 > X-2 > 12 > 13 > 10

That's pretty close to mine as well. X and XII in S tier. Though I might put VIII and XIII in A tier.

I'm pretty sure I've played some of the earlier games on game boy or something, but I know I didn't beat them and I don't remember enjoying them much. So I'm not ranking them, and of course leaving off ones I haven't played at all. I can't really compare the mmo to the other games.

A - 9, 7
B - 6, Tactics Advance, 12
C - 2 (GBA Remake), 4
F - 10-2, 13, 8, 2

Still a great experience: V, VI, VII, Crisis Core

Meh: X-2, XIII-2, XV

Didnt like: IV, XIII

Never again: Dirge of Cerberus

Wasnt a fan. Beat it when it came out and futzed around with it a few years back. Id put it at the bottom of my list.

Only taking into account mainline non-online games

Top 3: IX, VI, IV

Bottom 3: II, XII, XV

There was a FF mobile game, All the Bravest. I heard it didn't do well.

I got it as a little kid, I think that's who it was aimed at.

I could never get far into Tactics, Ive tried it like 4 times. It has to be one of the most difficult games Ive ever played. I guess its just not my type of game

Based on the ones I've played:

S - 9, 4, 6, 7, 10
A - 16, 5, 10-2, 13-2
B - 8, 1, Mythic Quest
C - 13
F - 12, 15

Keeping in mind that while 12 had a lot of potential, ultimately it was ruined by the wrong casting; and I played 15 at launch which was an absolute mess of a game.

This is pretty much how I would rank them too. 15's development was way too jacked up with it being the final fantasy equivalent of a kingdom hearts 2 on up kingdom hearts game. (Meaning there is too much damn "required side game reading material" to fully understand the plot of a single video game. It really should not have been this way and so its like christ almighty what the hell happened at square-enix during this time period with the FF13 crystal whatever project).

Seriously though, I watched many of the videos going over final fantasy 15's development. I STILL can barely piece together how that one super cool original trailer ended up with what we got, lol.

and i see no reason to rank the MMOs

Because they switched directors. And this wasn't like when they switched directors for 12, they brought in Tabata, whose only notable work was Crisis Core. I've said it before, I'll say it again. He had no business working on it. He wasn't ready. Sure he did what he could with what he had, but nearly everything was changed from when Nomura left to work on KH3.

Which btw, was another disaster.

That I've beaten: VI > VII > IV > IX > XIII

Too many, but proper II ain't bad! Wouldn't put it anywhere near the top, but I appreciated its style of gameplay and story.

Huh, people really love Tactics. I think it's kinda overrated, and after having played it, I struggle not to look at it like a knockoff of Tactics Ogre, and the initially-stellar writing kinda just devolves into beating up demons the further you go.

It's a real question on how many people played tactics ogre vs fft.

The one thing Ogre had over FFT was turning people into swords.

I finally got TO on the switch about a year ago. Better than FFT in some ways, but the battles are too long. I dont want to drop an hour into something when I have to start over that many times.
