Leftists in general aren't the problem, and by and large would be supporting AND attending these protests, even if they have their own issues with bog standard liberals. They on the whole are an important coalition partner, which should include pretty much anyone who isn't a fucking fascist or MAGA goon.

Tankies and chucklefucks like this are definitely annoying and obnoxious as hell, but wouldn't even represent close to 1% of all leftists in the US.

The protests were full of leftists, the left largely supported them and attended them. It's true that the protests didn't really have a theory of change or next steps that would put a check on Trump.

This is not new. Malcolm X condemned the March on Washington as a feel good gesture that placated white moderates while undermining movements that were actively harming the white supremacist system. Even Martin Luther King Jr came to agree with X and considered the March on Washington to be a failure.

There will be a contingent who believe civil disobedience is the only viable mechanism for change. The system needs to be fiscally inconvenienced. Not appeased to by politely protesting at the assigned location while it continues with business as usual.

Bit of a key thing with what you said is that the Montgomery Bus Boycotts worked because it really did put a fiscal dent in the city's public transport (and riling up the racists to show how bad they are to everyone else).

ALSO, most folks forget the lot of the Civil Rights protests were generally regarded as unpopular among the (majority white) populace of the US
