I'm hearing people say the new patch literally destroyed the game lol. Why? >_>

Dunno, I'm still angry they completely abandoned Soul Calibur for Tekken. Tekken always had janky ass controls while Soul Calibur has among the best controls in a fighting game (Not saying much since almost all fighting games have terrible controls). Plus fighting with weapons is way cooler than almost every fighter using martial arts.

I dunno, I don't get patches at all.

It always feels like the most bizarre obscure thing they can come up with, like Ryu's crouching quick kick doesn't cause opponents to bounce off the opposite screen anymore or some shit (not even more damage/range/speed, like literally something I can't even figure out how it would even happen at all) and the FGC is like THIS CHANGES EVERYTHIIIIIIING.

I know for Marshall Law they basically destroyed him. Made him weaker overall

Imagine ordering a burger and then you realized that they added too much mayo and not enough pickles. So you go to the person at the front and ask for less mayo more pickles and they agree.

When you get your burger back, you see that they completely removed the pickles and added even more mayo.

I play fighting games, but only casually, so I have no idea of the little details the fgc goes on about.

Basically this.
Basically they decided to nerf the whole defense system and concentrate on faster attacks, which was reviewed negatively at launch.
They were supposed to fix this with the big Season 2 update.
While they did nerf some moves for two or three characters, they also released multiple new attacks of the same kind to every character.

lol I saw someone say "they just gave everyone a gun and lots of characters lost their gameplay identity because of it"

Offence has been buffed to hell. New moves added to characters that cover their weakness. More guesswork when it comes to playing defence. Tech just deleted that's been around for multiple games.

I'm gonna preface this by saying I haven't played Tekken 8 so this going to largely just be pulled from my ass.

BUT from what I've seen and heard, no. The playing field is still uneven and arguably even moreso. The characters that already have great offense just got better by removing defense.

Moves were either created or altered so that sidestepping is now useless as a way to escape strings. In many cases the only way to escape a string was to sidestep.

This made many characters formerly weak to sidesteps obscenely powerful. The Mishimas main weakness was being sidestepped, but that is now gone. And in Jacks case, it created an infinite loop that guaranteed death through chip damage.

The fact that they did this in the very same patch where they dramatically expanded sidestep options also feels like a counterproductive kick in the teeth. "Look, for the first time in Tekken history it's easy to sidestep towards the screen. Now watch as we make sidestepping entirely useless!"

A community manager or something is blocking everyone who is posting negative posts about Tekken 8 in the subreddit (including their twitters in their profiles), even if they haven't interacted with them at all

i kinda wish i had more time outside the FGC, because this is hilarious, but it would hit more if i had that perspective

but like 9/10 times what matters is how it changes sequences
