Blank Sailings are generally caused by shifting market dynamics. For example, in times of low demand for space on a vessel, carriers can blank sailings to reduce their available capacity by consolidating shipments, helping them keep rates stable."

So basically, Blank sailings increasing means less good coming in. Less goods coming in means less deliveries for truckers.

80 blank sailings translates to roughly 1 million truck deliveries that were scheduled but now have nothing to deliver.

I know a dude that owns his own trucking business and he refused to believe Trump's tariffs would be bad for his business even when I posted articles from people in logistics talking about how they were preparing for the reduced shipping volume that occurred due to Trump's tariffs in his first term. Trucking as an industry is a hotbed of MAGA chud bs, so no doubt that most of them voted for their own demise just to own like 5 transgender people in sports.

As someone who works as an analyst in a national broker, these figures are certainly overstated. The tariffs absolutely are having an effect on the market and we probably won't see the contraction in carrier supply that many anticipated before now, but "port freight eliminated from California" is incredibly dubious
