Through the jet engine of American cultural colonialism, a Dunkin Donuts opened up in my city. I went there with another humanoid to see what it was about. They charge 29kr for a fucking donut. A donut! At the grocery store bakery I can get one for 6-8kr depending on filling. Needless to say we laughed and left. So what exactly justifies this pricing? Are they overly decadent? Do they taste like a thousand calories?

Herr in NJ it's about a $1.50 last I checked. But private bakeries are somehow cheaper and higher quality.

Dunkin really isn't a good donut shop. You can get better at any other bakery. Their coffee and hashbrowns are really the only reason I even go there anymore.

I never enjoyed Dunkin's donuts. I liked their iced coffees for a moment in time but do not miss it at all after 5 years of work from home and not getting Dunkin on the way in to work anymore.

I always felt that their coffee was really inconsistent. Some days, amazing, some I wouldnt even bother beyond the first sip. Probably partially dependent on who is working that day, but I always found it kinda odd.

$9.50 for a half dozen for me. But I rarely buy them. Have a chain grocery store (Big Y) that makes better donuts. Because they actually make their donuts on premises. Their donuts are also bigger & cheaper.

Dunkin has slowly been getting more expensive near me and I've stopped going. New shop opened in 2021 and two donuts was about 4 bucks. Now the same two donuts is 5.70.

It is Southern California and everything is annoyingly more expensive here.

Everything is preposterously expensive in Amerikaland.

I guess that'll happen when the people who calculate the official inflation rates use bullshit data anyone can clearly see is wrong to tell us inflation has been flatlined for 20 years and decide to make up for it all at once.

But more to the point, they did that and everyone was just like oh well instead of, you know, being functioning parts of an economy that don't buy things that are too expensive.

I cant eat them but guys at work get them occasionally. Its $13 for a dozen (12) of them. Typically though there are two local bakeries they use that are better. The best bakery donuts are a local grocery store that has a nice bakery.

So yeah a box of 6 for $19 is ridiculous.

I usually just get their coffee. Their donuts are passable but taste like prepackaged donuts. A real donut shop bakes and fries the donuts in house. They probably don't cost much extra, either.

I actually had Dunkin breakfast this morning and it's definitely not worth the price. Their hash browns taste like they microwave them (I made mine better by frying them in a little a avocado oil).

Absolutely this. There was a time I would get coffee from DD every day before work before I finally realized that the coffee was over-priced and started going to the deli across the street for relatively the same quality coffee at $2.00 less. That's a savings of $40/mo.

However, I still like their Lemon Cakes (also over-priced, but I only buy one every other week or so).

I don't care too much for their doughnuts, but tbh that hasn't been their actual specialty in a long time. They've taken the "Donuts" out of all their ads and everything. The only place I still see anything doughnut-related at all on their website is the URL and as a background in an image way down the page.

Their breakfast sandwiches are p legit. Their hashbrowns are different from other fast food places but I don't mind them. And their fancy coffee drinks are probably the best you'll find from a chain of that type (for whatever reason, the best coffee chains are always drive thru only).

$6 for a half dozen is still a great price. My favorite donut of all time is the Krispy Kreme glazed, but they've gotten stupidly expensive. I remember back in 2000, some kids at my school were reselling Krispy Kreme donuts for 50 and they were making a profit. Now it's $16 for a half dozen, or $21 for a dozen.

I know people from Boston love the shit, but their coffee is even worse than Starbucks for my money.

The way I look at it is that Ill go to one of them if theres no local spots around, but generally if a town or city has a Dunkin or Starbucks, theyre also gonna have at least one small local place to go to.
