Congrats on beating the prologue.

When I do the VR sections to get BP, is there any incentive to doing the lower level ones I've not done before, or should I just stick to the ones that give the most?

None at all. VR Mission a give you a decent BP bump super early on, but after the first time S Ranking them there's little reason to keep redoing them.

Yeah, you pretty much do them around when you get them and that's it.

It's been like 100 hours for me since the last VR Mission unlocked. Really just for the early game.

Love that these two keep randomly coming up with dumb abbreviations for things and acting like it's totally serious and normal.

I am almost at the ending of this stupid 'all battles' route. I think I have 2-4 left.

So uh, how do I avoid that route? Is it top side or bottom? I'm still going top

It's on the bottom, splinters from the main route a decent chunk into it.

There is no way you'll encounter it on accident unless you intentionally pick the most obvious incorrect choice in the game. It's like a punishment, really.

I've been focusing on the top so far. Finished three routes: Killing Game, Slasher and Mystery (up to the lock).

Mostly it's been very good stuff. Nothing too crazy (don't really get some of the reactions here...), but consistently enjoyable. Killing game was the best route of the three, though it's left me wondering a few things. The biggest mysteries brought up and unsolved by these routes are the identity of the first sponsor, the identity of the sponsor-like people who apparently had nothing to do with the killing game, and why Hiruko was really insistent on restoring Eito's corpse to pristine condition after you kill him.

I do think that Slasher was rather less good than the other two routes though. People quite frequently behave pretty stupidly, and it's soooo slow. Mystery skipped forward 20 days at a time a couple times - Slasher would've benefited from some of this. Consolidating some of the kills would've made it feel less repetitive I think. It was still good when stuff was happening though, and it was nice to finally get a copious amount of free time - enough to max a few characters' bond levels.

Last note - is everyone using the English dub? I saw complaints about Kyoshika and Yugamu's voices earlier in the topic, but they just sound plain great in Japanese. I'd assume they're simply bad performances in English overall.

I'm playing with the dub, and every performance that I originally questioned has grown on me. I went and checked out the Japanese VAs and they're excellent, but when it comes to video games, unlike anime, I don't like playing in non-english unless I have to.

I am using the English dub, and I think everyones VAs are perfectly fine except Kyoshikas, who ranges from unbelievably bad to just very bad.

A lot of VAs...actually, MOST of the VAs are extremely amateur. This is Kyoshikas VAs first role ever, as far as I can tell. It doesn't always land but there are fun moments.

The most surprising one of all is Tsubasa. This also appears to be her first ever role and she's KILLING IT

Just started a Youtube watch of this (seeing if I want to get it someday). This seems like a very weird "Totally the DR/Rain Code" art, but watching them walk or talk and move in 60 FPS just feels so wrong somehow.

*pretty sure OG Rain Code was in 30, so it didn't bug me as much.*

To answer the dub question, I think I've seen a few of those names here and there, but absolutely no one in that list is anyone I know well enough to be like, "Yeah, I'm not going to question this at all." First few people seem fine enough. Even if dub actors are newer, there usually isn't some 90s cornball directing fails. Then again, they were probably using an actual dub company for most of the DR, Zero Time, and Somnium stuff. Curious how this ends up.

BOY picking this subroute sure has resulted in me getting a LOOOOOOOT of information dumped on me at once!

Not sure how I feel about marshmallow ghost guy basically looking exactly like Shinigami, but trading the perverted goofiness for...old man gruffy goofiness.

Saves on having to come up with new character designs I suppose.

Ok, the weird joker-ish blue haired chick is already one of the best characters. "Kids, trapped in school with an evil mastermind hiding behind a mascot character. IT MUST BE A KILLING GAME! They want us to kill each other in increasingly violent and disturbing ways!"

Now I just need her to say POINTING like Ibuki did.

Some of the characters in this game give some of the franchise's (which franchise....) best and franchise's worst first impressions of all time.

Oh goodie. Most of the cast kinda sucks. A weird brother sister thing, a guy who thinks he's depressed and sucks, A dorky sounding self centered dorkwad, and the one hot chick with glasses didn't do anything cool, despite looking cool...

But the hospital guy was decent, Tsubasa sounds cool, and Darumi absolutely rocks in the Ibuki mold (with the meta knowledge backstory). So hey. I already have some favorites despite some...iffy people.

Yes, Darumi is still far and away my favorite character.

But Tsubasa is beginning to close the gap.

No wonder Darumi's VA sounded so familiar. She was Catherina in Metaphor and Power in Chainsaw Man...well, that explains why crazy and angsty sounds so second nature. wait, nevermind. That's Japanese VA. IMDB needs a better way to sort these. These listings are all a mess.

English VA's first role. Not really that bad though. She was told be crazy and seems to fit. I can tell a lot of these are newer actors. They aren't too bad, for the most part.

oops didn't realize I was only halfway through the Slasher route lol. The Zombie route wasn't very good! The main premise was solid, but I was really annoyed that they basically never decided to fight the zombies. They see early on that Takumi kills one with a pipe, and they manage to kill Eito with the trap, but they never decide to just kill all the zombies! They have a room filled with weapons like guns - why don't they shoot these zombies in the head? They make bombs all the time on other routes. Kyoshika has a FUCKING SWORD! Using the zombies to kill Vehx'ness at the end was satisfying at least! Glad I got this route after learning about the Gi'e possessing Takumi in the other Slasher route - was fun to do it 'out of order'.

Also fuck Hiruko once again for not telling us to burn the corpses and insisting on restoring Eito's corpse. Seriously wtf.

.....I'm at like 140 hours and still haven't gotten enough resources so I can't imagine you're actually set on that front.

i mean im never gonna use like shouma or kurara since their gimmicks are just too meh, so i can just ignore some character skill upgrades

Slasher is a free time bonanza.

There are definitely skips in some branches of it, just don't expect them anytime soon.

It's very important and is required for locks later. It also has some interesting stuff it branches to and some legit wild endings.

But on the whole it's definitely slow. There's a REASON for that, but still.

There's really no reason you can just switch up routes whenever you feel like it.
