I'm not even talking about the ridiculous ICE stuff. It's a given they haven't changed on that.

But even with the economy and foreign relations they're still glazing him.

It's madness and I don't even understand what is happening anymore.

They're cultists, plain and simple.

Trump can never do any wrong in their eyes.

The set infrastructure is that the only trusted news source is Trump's mouth or whatever propaganda influencer they love that says good things about Trump. And the information from the news sources are telling them that the cost of everything is down and other countries are bowing down to the US.

They don't understand tariffs, think the economy is all Biden's fault (maybe Obama's), and don't realize that the rest of the world is laughing at Trump.

It's a team sport and their team is up 80 points. Why would they suddenly start caring about that stuff

Yeah, it's clear there's a certain floor of support that Trump can't lose no matter what he does. That doesn't mean you shouldn't keep speaking out but you have to do it with the understanding that there are always going to be people you can't reach. But you reach the ones you can.

Trump is held on the same pedestal as their religious god so the same rules apply. They have whatever image of him in their head, and that is their view of him. So he's doing it to help others, we will feel pain but will recover, etc. The "Trump works in mysterious ways" religious handwaving they do with their God applies here.

The source of this derangedness I think is the religious aspect of it that doubt they would admit to. But it's there and the parallels to how they act with their own god are easy to see.

Somewhere along the line people simply stopped admitting they were wrong in the realm of politics and now we have this "never back down no matter what reality says" strategy that tbh has been working annoying well for them.

But even if you break them from the trance you're still left with "still better than the dems" which I haven't seen a single example of someone changing that belief.

What Trump voters seem to want is the destruction of the federal government and total isolationism to return to an agrarian society. Realistically I don't think they know what they want because most of it doesn't make sense.

Its our current news and social media. You get fed what youre used to being fed. Turn on Fox and its either

) Dems are bad/freaking out
) Thing Trump did is actually OK or
) Heres why you should be afraid

Conservatives don't care if everything they want bites them in the ass too if it means that the "right people" (read: democrats, minorities, and in Trump's case anyone deemed not pro-Trump enough, including other conservatives) get bullied. Tale as old as time.

(Don't ask me about minorities who happen to be Trumpers. I don't get it either.)

What's frustrating is that they're sore winners. Republicans won about as much as possible and their supporters are still miserable. They're so brainwashed they don't even know why, they've gone full autopilot in the hopes things will work out by parroting whatever the latest narrative is. Even if it's the opposite of what it was just a week ago, they cling onto the most transparent coping mechanism.

But how dumb do you have to be to believe that gas prices are below $2 when you're sitting in a gas station parking lot and literally see with your own eyes that it's not?

How can you hear the egg prices have never been so bigly in terms of smallness, minutes after getting home from the grocery store, and seeing that the price is virtually unchanged and go, "yea, he's right! Even though I have the literal receipt right here in my hand proving it hasn't!"

This goes beyond just "I'm the only news you can trust". This is actually "ignore the evidence of your eyes" territory of cultish behavior.

You can't fix stupid.

It's because we haven't experienced the worst of it yet.

Conservatives are convinced that if there are no more libs, no more gays, no more trans, no more non-whites, no more unions, no more regulations, no more green energy, no more taxes, no more religion that's not Christianity, no more women in charge, no more worrying about anything beyond the US borders, then they'll finally have the means and resources to live a life where they feel safe, happy, and carefree for the first time since they were kids.

A staggering amount of these people had no prior interest or knowledge in politics and civics before they got brainwashed by Facebook and other platforms. It's literally just fear/hate-based sports team tribalism but with infinitely higher stakes. In retrospect it would have worked out for the best if large swaths of people remained pacified by television or something else instead of being introduced to daily internet usage.

This is also true. Unhinged newsletters in the 70s, talk radio in the 80s/90s and post-9/11 paranoia-fueled cable news in the 00s played their part, but unregulated online platforms on affordable smartphones opened the floodgates ten times higher. I can only speak from personal experience but out of all of the right-wing people I've personally come across, the vast majority of them were borderline NPC-tier morons before they started absorbing propaganda off social media. It's even worse now since large swaths of Gen Z have even less media literacy than the generations before them.

The big problem now is how do you combat propaganda and misinformation when all of our communications media is centralized and controlled by the 1%? There's no way we can go back in any sense of the word and it's impossible to teach people media literacy and how to point out propaganda anymore.

Yeah, my mom acts like she's in love with him and totally blinded by rose tinted glasses. Nothing he does is wrong to her,band it's extending to other areas of her life as well. It used to be restricted to Trump, but now she's against anything that others perceive as liberal or progressive.

Like, she was watching a video yesterday of someone comparing all of Trump's actions to what Hitler did, and talking about how scary it is. Then the other person in the video was like "Hitler also owned a dog! So everyone that owns a dog is Hitler too, right?!" Then she was laughing about how good of a point that was. And that nothing Trump has done is wrong, and it's just a bunch of "haters" trying to frame him in a way to look bad.
