I thought an open world game was actually the natural progression from Village tbh. An infected city with Rose as the main character.

But it'd really need to be a spinoff game, not VIIII.

I would love an RE game that take place in an open city in the middle of a T-Virus Outbreak. RE3 but open.

If it's a forced open world with no rhyme or reason, I would be against it, but if it was like Village where there is a big central hub that you can explore if you want or rush through it, I would love that.

Rumor is it was initially going to be open world but they changed the direction of it after the success of the remakes.

i wouldnt mind it, but Id much prefer the more linear approaches, with maybe more open ended puzzle solving.

An open world Raccoon City like a spiritual successor to Outbreak would be cool.

I don't know why people treat open world like a dirty word. Ubisoft is not the only ones making big games. Resident Evil 1 is basically open world with extra steps and 8 is a bigger version of that. Just bump that up another step and bingo.

Capcom can't make a decent open world experience even if their life depends on it so I would be very against it

Neither of these games are remotely open world in the slightest

If you include the Spencer mansion, the train leading to another lab/ headquarters. Then theres Raccoon City, so you have forests and a bit of mountain to pass before even getting to the city. Then theres the entirety of the city, the underground, and a whole seperated lab. If they linked it up with the REs that came after the first 3, itd be cool. I just dont know how youd travel from raccoon city to Europe, to Louisiana, etc

Why does anyone like open world? It just makes the games feel so empty and boring.

RE wouldn't work with a huge map with large sections of empty land between locations, but a huge, interactive urban environment could be brilliant imo.

The Evil Within 2 was pretty good being semi open world. Don't see why RE9 wouldn't either.
