I just beat Doom 2016 and I have no clue what happened between that game and Eternal. Also, it's way harder. I feel like paper and run out of ammo a lot. I suppose I'm supposed to be using the chainsaw a lot more, then. I love how fast and fluid I feel, almost like I need to move by instinct and pulling off some really killer moves feels so satisfying. ... Copied to Clipboard!

yeah, it definitely takes a hard tone veer and skips a fuckload of context re the gameplay, once u get used to chainsawing folks youre gonna love it. i think the story/world/tone is much worse in eternal, but Eternal is absolute peak FPS-play. rivaled only by Bulletstorm --- My fate was the grandest, most brilliant of them all. I honestly have no idea why they started the game the way they did. Where did Slayer end up at the end of 2016? How did he end up having a spaceship base? How much time has actually passed? Maybe there was some kind of prologue comic or something but I don't remember. Super fun game though, regardless. --- Game collection: http://www.backloggery.com/bakonbitz Gaming channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwVQm69J7bGScbv3_50C0dA ... Copied to Clipboard!

Yeah, Eternal is much harder than 2016, but once you get good at it, it's so much fun it's crazy. Absolutely peak game, even if the story is... less than ideal lol. BakonBitz posted... Its been awhile since I played Eternal but IIRC they wanted you to be frequently swapping weapons in every encounter. I think they leaned more into the "each enemy type is more susceptible to a particular weapon, so use the right weapon for the right enemy" strategy. So prioritizing key enemies, with the right weapons, should help you get through fights without running out of ammo. And also closing in for the chainsaw melees is vital too, to help you sustain ammo. --- https://join.worldcommunitygrid.org?recruiterId=545336 i9-12900KF|Z690-F|12GB 3080 RTX|64GB DDR5|2TB NVMe ... I love being able to land one on those turrets of the skull-brain, Olivia looking demons too. It feels so satisfying. I had to stop playing last night because I was getting sleepy but more importantly, I couldn't turn my music up and it felt like a complete waste to not have my speakers up. I feel like a lot of people have gripes with the gameplay of the new Doom games and use the story as a scapegoat because that was something traditional Doom lacked but was just fine without. I think the developers are so focused on including a story because they figure it's a good way to keep a wider audience more engaged. People tend to like lore snippets and constructed universes and all that, so those kinds of things tend to get included in games more nowadays. I think the story in the new game adds onto the experience. You come and stay for the gameplay, but it's not like having a narrative takes away from that at all. --- Ah, yes, the Negotiator: General Kenobi <sneaky beeping> ... Copied to Clipboard!

That gap in plot is absurdly stupid. It's like Eternal is Act 3 of a 3 act play but you went into a coma for Act 2 and they don't explain shit. It's one of my biggest issues with Eternal. They went hard on lore and story but that is absolutely not what I wanted in a Doom game and it was all very stupid. Game was fun but a big step down from 2016. Dark Ages is good but the story is also pretty stupid. Not sure why they thought more macguffin story was worthwhile. --- http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u223/chocolateFRESH/arts/kraid.png - Thanks GP cosmonaut! http://i.imgur.com/TuJWAR8.jpg ...
