What can actually be done to catch these people before they carry out the attack (yet close enough to it that they have no plausible deniability)? Because it really seems like more effort on that is needed.

With this administration I wouldn't put it beyond them to allow it to happen if they can use it as a talking point and cudgel to go after people and be even more authoritarian.

I'm not really sure unless they post about it or tell someone. Not every crime can be stopped if someone just decides to show up somewhere with a molotov

What can you do about it? Unless he was on the radar to begin with theres no way to prevent this.

I live in Boulder, and I was not near the attacks today, but I saw tons of police officers responding. The group this loser targeted peacefully gathers on weekends around the local farmer's market and events, advocating for peace in the Middle East. They are an older crowd, but easy to talk to and not aggressive or crude. I have chatted with them several times over the years, and the people I talked to were retired college professors.

The supermarket mass shooting is still pretty fresh in people's memories here (2021, I knew one of the victims.)

Just another sad day in America that will be out of the news cycle once the new awful thing happens.

Inaccurate. His visa had expired, but he was applying for asylum. He was legally in the country during that review.

Unironically the fact that he was seeking asylum will make them dig in even harder. The amount of posts I see all over the internet about people seeking asylum and then disappearing to commit crimes is absolutely absurd.

The conservative sphere is going to get really nasty about this, far beyond the crimes of this one man
