I liked it, but I called the twist about 15 minutes in when I was about 7 years old.

Great movie

For all hate M.Night gets (most of it well deserved) his first movie was legitimately good.

Yes I liked this movie.

Even if you ignore the twist, its still a beautifully made movie. A few missteps, but overall it has a lot of what makes Shyamalan good (shot framing, editing, visual symbolism, subtle camera work, etc.) and very little of what makes Shyamalan terrible (incomprehensible characters, eye-roll-inducing dialogue).

I rewatched it a while ago and it was not as good as I remembered. A lot of the dialogue is incredibly bad and the acting is really stiff. I assume this is due to the direction.

Yep, managed to see it unspoiled the first time and saw it at least another time in the theatre.

The twist really is well done. It's too bad it's so spoiled and widespread now, right up there with Darth Vader being Luck's father. That first time you see it, it really is a whammy.

I like the twist. You find out the dude in that hair piece the whole time, that's Bruce Willis the whole movie.

I've actually never seen it and just wanted to do the Always Sunny In Philadelphia reference.

I do like it, but its also one of those movies that after having watched it and knowing the outcome I dont feel it works well on repeated viewings and Ive never had a desire to ever rewatch it. Same with something like The Usual Suspects or Knives Out. They are great for 1 time watches.

That is a problem with movies that have a central mystery as its driving theme. Once you know the answer, repeat viewings are hard lol

Yep. I love them when they are well done as there is nothing quite like it but it only works that one time.

Sure you can enjoy the characters or in my case the gilded age architecture of the house in Knives Out, and even the acting performances and dialogue. But its never the same when you know the mystery outcome. Its just not the same.

I was a kid. We rented the VHS. The little girl part freaked me out.

I guessed the twist earlyish and that did take some of the punch out, but I can see how it would be great if you didnt spot it.

I mean, the twist happens right at the end. It wouldn't have achieved classic status if you had to wait until almost the end for it to be interesting.
