Pre order CANCELED.

Oh well. Probably for the best tbh, not the most flush with cash right now. I'll probably pick one up a little later.

Why did it block it? No money (then good) or didn't think it was you (that would be BS)?

"Suspicious activity." I confirmed it was me, but by then it was too late.

Its pretty common for banks to automatically decline large purchases as a form of fraud protection. Then a bot texts you and asks if it was you, and if you say yes they unlock your card.

Unfortunately by the time that happens, Walmart has already cancelled your pre-order because your card was declined. Ive already seen a few people saying this happened to them.

Yeah, I can tell because I'm not that upset. We've been securing a lot of vendors for the wedding lately.

I should clarify I have about $30k liquid cash in savings and more in retirement amounts, but these are emergency find / wedding expense funds. The video game purchases come out the checking account.

In all my life Ive only had my credit card company put a hold on my card once and it was just in April is the spring sale on PSN over a $10.50 purchase on PSN.

Its never triggered before and I had some major purchases this year for thousands of dollars and everything was fine but I did one purchase on PSN that was fine and then a little later went to make a 2nd purchase and it kept coming up as an error. I thought something was wrong with the store.

Eventually I tried buying it through the app and that was denied too. Then a little while later I got an automated call from Visa asking me to verify the first PSN purchase I made and that a hold was placed on my card once.

Weirdest thing ever. Doesnt care about an $8,000 electronic purchase or a $4,000 insurance purchase previously but flags my $10.50 purchase. WTF lol.

My own bank has done this to me before. Usually not a big deal because you can just confirm and try again. But Walmart hasnt charged me yet and Im worried theyre going to cancel my order if the bank pulls this shit again.

My CC did this when I initially placed the preorder. Now Im wondering if they might do it again when the temporary hold charge goes through fully.

I would be much more angry if I was really hyped about it. I mostly like having a launch model so I can potentially hack it later, but the probability I do that is getting lower as I get older.

I mostly buy stuff like this from Best Buy for that exact reason. They give you a chance to change the payment method before canceling.

A lot of Switch 2 preorders are being canceled and I think Nintendo's doing it. I doubt that a lot of people's CC are suddenly flagging purchases out of the blue.

Nah. My card got flagged with Best Buy, but they also give you 48 hours to correct it before cancelling the order.

It's pretty common if you don't typically make big purchases on a certain website.

You get a notification saying what happened. So Nintendo is now manipulating the credit card companies into sending fake messages, huh?

I work at a huge store, I am in no hurry to buy a switch 2 but if I see one as I'm leaving for the day or on break I may just buy one. Not that I expect to see that for a while.

Some credit cards block purchases if the sale price is high. That's happened to me a few times before so I'm always ready for them asking and confirming right on the spot

It's not. CC companies have protocols for this, but this isn't it.

Yes it is, and several people in this topic have even told you it has happened to them.

A few years ago I needed a new Macbook Pro for work. Previously, I had only ever made small purchases on bestbuy.com, so when I went to suddenly make a $2000 purchase, Chase blocked the charge, and I had to call them to okay it going through.

Fraud alerts look for purchases you make that seem out of the ordinary compared to purchases you usually make. If you've never bought anything big on walmart.com, then suddenly a $500 purchase can trigger the fraud alert.

But please, tell us why this apparently doesn't exist, and how Nintendo is somehow getting credit card companies to do this and lie to people about it.
