Divinehero posted... Aa4 wasn't terribly well received cuz of the titular character iircI just found it to be a bad game in general. Apollo really didn't carry the story as well as Phoenix, I hated what they did with the *actual* Phoenix (turning him from a mildly-neurotic straight man into this weird stoner-mentor that was the complete opposite of his original characterization), all of the interesting recurring characters from the original trilogy (Maya, Pearl, Edgeworth, Gumshoe, etc.) were removed and replaced with far less interesting substitutes, the cases were all uninteresting, the arc villain's motivations are absolutely batshit bonkers, and the prosecutor is terrible as a villain because he's on your side half the time, meaning there's no satisfaction in wiping the floor with him and rubbing his face in it the way you got to with Edgeworth/Von Karma (either of them)/Coffee Fiend. It was just a train wreck of a game. --- Kill 1 man: You are a murderer. Kill 10 men: You are a monster. Kill 100 men: You are a hero. Kill 10,000 men, you are a conqueror! ... Copied to Clipboard!

darkknight109 posted... I just found it to be a bad game in general. In addition to that... I felt like Phoenix learned to stand on his own and have confidence in himself by like, 1-2 or 1-3, and Apollo ended the game like "Well, I still need my mentor and everyone around me to step in, but maybe I'll get there some day." It felt like it took a full game to get where Phoenix was by maybe mid/late 1-2 and made him feel very weak as a character. Aside from 4-1 (which is really good), the cases are just a bit underwhelming. 4-2 is serviceable filler but nothing super special, 4-3 is overly obvious and just pretty bland, and IMO 4-4 suffers from I respect the game trying to shift the tone and take a really bold step for the series, but I ultimately don't love the game. I think it missed the mark in several areas. --- https://www.youtube.com/user/dotsdfe I make Fire Emblem videos. Sometimes. ... Copied to Clipboard!

RePlayed the first two cases of apollo justice about a year ago and I was genuinely shocked how bad it was in case 2, even though I have always maintained its way worse than Turnabout Serenade. I think Klavier has like five objections the entire case. The rest of it is mostly Apollo arguing with the witnesses without him butting in. ... Copied to Clipboard!

None of these are among the worst cases in the franchise.I haven't played any of the 3DS games, but I've played the entire series other than that and I can comfortably say that 4-4 and 2-3 are, indeed, awful cases. AAI1-5 is alright, though. It goes on for too long, but is otherwise a solid case. --- Kill 1 man: You are a murderer. Kill 10 men: You are a monster. Kill 100 men: You are a hero. I havent played AAI-5 since like 2010 but I have memories of it taking like 20 hours to complete >_> I also remember the villain being really fucking stupid and could've literally walked away from this impromptu debate in some dusty hallway and hopped on a plane and gotten away with it lol. I just played the HD trilogy a few months ago after not playing the games in over a decade and I had a blast yet again. Like you said, even knowing the culprits, there's so many other details and twists that I've forgotten and it was fun going through them again. For example, I was slightly stumped by Before that, I played the Great Ace Attorney games. They are solid but it's definitely a slow burn - the first 2 cases were putting me to sleep, 3rd case was awesome, 4th was meh, 5th was decent. But the cases in the second game are like sequels to the cases in the first game and are super solid all around. The last case was good but the way it ended was underwhelming (similar to AA4). After the trilogy, I played the Investigations duo. I played the first one years ago but this was my first time playing the second. I was pretty lukewarm with the 1st game outside of the 4th case, but I warmed up to the 2nd case. The 5th case definitely drags and drags, but I didn't think it was too bad this playthrough. 2nd game is up there with the OG trilogy as one of my favorites. The 2nd case was probably my least favorite overall but the rest were great and I was legitimately floored by Next up is the Apollo trilogy, I remember liking 6 a lot but only the 1st case of 4 and only the last 2 cases of 5 (until the villain reveal). But I'll get to this trilogy when I finish some other games I'm playing first --- Delicious and vicious, while maliciously nutritious. ... Copied to Clipboard!
